Comments (11)Alrighty Then... and Merry Christmas to whoever might be at work and have nothing of importance to do... talk about PAYDIRT... geez... ya'll have found some really cool stuff. Nothing I like better than to find a discarded window box... mine is not to wonder why..I just snag and go...LOLOL.. I was having coffee with my neighbor 2 days ago and her hubby was hanging a ceiling fan in the bedroom. He comes out and says... 'Do you want these? I hate to toss em out. They are dated back to the very early 1920's'... so I slowly looked up and...'OMG... he had two glass shades that hang from chains that attach to a ceiling fixture. They are etched and frosted and gorgeous... I jumped out of my chair and said 'Thank you very much and you can't have them back'... he laughed... so, this morning they got wrapped as gifts for my S/O and will be happily turned into gorgeous bird feeders come the spring... but that's not the best part of it all.. My boss walks in yesterday morning and in her hand is a picture of a 1920 Jacob Doll Upright piano that she has been trying to sell... I looked once...then looked again because the price had changed to 'FREE TO LOVING HOME'.. LOLOLOLOL... Merry Christmas to Me!!!! It's being moved next week. How 'bout that? Merry Christmas...Jim...See MoreI am doing the happy dance!
Comments (13)Oh thanks everyone! I can not WAIT to show you the pictures of the rock. It looks so good. They drilled the well and it was neat to watch. They went 450 feet and hit a cavern another so many feet, I can'remember! Then they put all the pipe down and tomorrow they are dropping the pump and putting in the storage tank. Then we will have water :-) Kats - Thanks for the tip! We are getting a sediment filter, some other filter, gosh I got so much information today it is all blending. We also are getting a 2500 gallon storage tank since the water is going to smell and by settling in the tank it will take the smell away. The electrical guy was a real jerk to us. He didn't speak a word to DH or me. I guess he was putting a play scape together this weekend and drilled to the bone in his finger. I felt really bad but our GC said he should have gotten the job done last week when he said it would be done. Anyway, he took off right after we got there and never came back....everything was just sitting there in the house so I am thinking maybe he left to get supplies and lunch?!?!? Who knows. It will get done though. He was suppose to finish two weekends ago and then he said it would be done by last Monday. So, tomorrow the sheet rock will be delivered and the A/C guy will be there. I will post pictures as soon as I can! Kel...See MoreWhat was your mother/son dance song at your son's wedding?
Comments (33)Son had a large wedding and reception but because it was in the afternoon, no dancing. But if we did have a song it would be Celine Dion's "Because You Loved Me." His small high school graduating class sang that to the parents then they gave the mom's a rose. Talk about crying! DIL knows what a close knit family we are and she loves how close I am to my son's. Now that she's a mother of a son she really understands the special bond between son and mother which is not like the old saying goes, "A son is a son until he takes a wife, a daugther is a daughter for the rest of her life." Heck, I still get onto my children! I'll always remember Barbara Bush speaking about Jr., "Just because he's the President doesn't mean he can put his feet on my coffee table!" lol...See MoreHappy with your GAS range (36') for baking?
Comments (23)I just got to catch up to this thread again! I've been blowing and going the past two days between all of this build stuff I have to get done before I leave town for a work trip followed by vacation two days after. So the two weeks of build stuff I'd have to do during that time had to be done this week on top of the regular stuff. Not to mention that I work also AND have two school-aged kids. It's been a mad mad week. So now I have conflicting opinions! I expected nothing less! LOL! Nini, we are doing a CD french door with an under counter beverage fridge in the island. We also have a chest freezer and an overflow fridge in the garage. :) Our kitchen layout is very similar to yours except without that cased opening you have in your "L". Our configuration will have cabinet, sink, cabinet with the super susan on the turn then cabinet after the turn, our range/hood, cabinet then our fridge on that end. Our microwave drawer will be facing the range and we're putting the beverage fridge facing the sink wall but on the set of cabinetry on the stool side. That way people coming from the living area can grab a drink from that side instead of walking to the big fridge. It works nicely. Brianadarnell's kitchen is laid out almost identical to what ours will be if you turned her island lengthwise the way yours is and changed some island configuration. The Dishwasher - I wonder if it's the room or the spacing? Thermadors are supposedly rebadged Bosches. I looked in my friend's and the configuration looked awfully similar to the Bosch I looked in the showroom. Now that have this cook blue light that comes on and off when you open the door so you can see inside. She likes hers but says sometimes she has trouble fitting things - which sounds like several Bosch owners here. Anyway, I don't plan to use the self-clean feature in the oven. I find it takes forever and stinks up the entire house. I find I can clean it quicker myself. I've never had a problem doing that. So that's a non-issue re: dual fuel. I wish someone could make this decision for me! LOL! Why can't things ever be easy??...See Moregwlake
