Craftsman garage door opener problem
Comments (161)Recently, my door will not stay when down when it is closed. It will go down all the way, then go back up. The only way to keep it closed is to hit the switch just as the door starts back up, then hit it again to close it. This only works if the door is only several inches or so back up when I hit the switch. The problem started a few months ago and happened only occassionally, I think only when it was very cold. Now it happens about every time I close it. I played with the down pressure setting, going from very light to heavy, with no luck. The opener is quite old, it preceded me in the house whihc I bought 16 years ago. But it has worked perfectly until now. I changed springs within the past 5 years. Any idea?...See Moregarage door remote opens but wont shut door
Comments (172)There are two completely separate possible problems. Problem #1 is a noisy LED (not, sound noise, but electrical noise that makes radio interference) that makes it more difficult for the radio signal from remote to base to work. Problem #2 is a capacitor on the board that wears out with age that affects the wireless capabilities. The LED bulb doesn't cause a bad capacitor or vice versa. These are cumulative issues, but unrelated in cause. So, it's slightly possible that a combination of these two issues could exist where the cumulative effects of both are enough to make it not work. But, one doesn't cause the other. Test #1 is to just temporarily remove any bulbs from the opener and see if that makes a difference in how the wireless remote works. If it does, then you probably just need a better bulb. If it doesn't, then the next most likely cause is the capacitor. For my opener, the bulbs made no difference. Mine was fixed by replacing the capacitor and is now working fine (at 25 years old)....See MoreDrawers or open shelves in closet?
Comments (18)BUT, I know from shopping experiences that I am completely and totally incapable of pulling a shirt out of a stack without destroying the whole stack. I solved this for my DD by rolling shirts and then standing them on end, so they're always visible and nothing's on the bottom. I know I get dust on the shoulders of the seldom-worn stuff in my closet--but I also leave the closet door open a lot, which makes it a little bit worse. I think I'd go for the combination of open cubbyholes and drawers: -underwear, socks, small stuff in drawers; -open cubbies for the frequently worn T-shirts & sweaters; -drawers for seldom-worn specialty stuff that I don't need to see to remember to wear--stuff like the three knock-around T-shirts I've got, or the two sweatshirts I own for chilly days, or the one pair of sweatpants. -Maybe even specialty stuff like evening gowns (I own 1 of them, but wear it to weddings) can go in a drawer, if I move the other stuff out to make room. Hmmm..this is an interesting idea... It helps a lot, w/ dust, not to own too many things! And I agree that cubbies would be a good way to keep stuff from sliding or falling over. You'd still have the "bottom of the stack" problem, though you could roll shirts, etc. Or, I find that most of the stuff ont he hangers is stuff I seldom wear--so if it could go in a drawer, I could hang all my T-shirts, probably....Hmmm.....See MoreDrawers are hitting each other and cabinet maker blames install
Comments (33)Using a tape measure, measure the 23 5/8" w drawer front to see if it is too wide in reality. When the drawers are open, measure the 23 3/4"w base cabinet to see if it is too small in reality. It you have two of this same size next to each other, add both numbers together and repeat the tape measure. Do you get 47 1/4" and 47 1/2" or something else? If you have three of them, of this same size next to each other, add again and repeat. Report back....See Morevinmarks
