My Crazy Bathroom Plant
Comments (6)Howdy, Nine, is your Dracaena near a window or door? You're lucky you have room for such a large plant/pot. If you can store items on the shelf, just think how many other plants you can add. Especially since the room is a bathroom...all that humidity during shower/bath time. Purple and Flora..you both have good eyes for detail. :)...See MoreShowstopping bathroom tile - need advice on other design elements
Comments (19)Wow!!! I'm so impressed with all of these ideas - keep them coming! I think each would work, but would make for a very different look - high contrast, traditional, MCM, etc. I shared all of these ideas with my husband and I think we're both leaning towards subway tiles in the shower - either light gray or white - and probably oversized as Nancy in Mich suggested. Each hex pattern is about 6 inches in diameter so they're quite large and we agree a larger subway would balance it out. Any ideas for grout color if we go with white subway? A light gray grout? My husband loves the idea of accenting the shower tile with black or graphite-colored trim and bullnose pieces to tie in the dark accents in the floor tile, so we'll likely do that, as well. Pricklypearcactus, we definitely want frameless glass for the shower but still waiting on our quote... scared to open that email. :) And I think brushed nickel is the winner in the fixture department, though I may throw in a little gold by way of accessories to warm things up a bit. We're still trying to decide between a few things: - Pickled wood, white or dark gray painted vanity and either floating or shaker-style - Solid white or marble-type (quartzite?) countertop - Light gray or gray-blue on the walls, but I think this depends on the other finishes. And jrueter - thanks so much for including photos. That really helped us visualize how the gray subway would look. We'd never even considered anything other than white! Williamsem - I'll be sure to post pictures of the finished product, but you'll have to be patient with us. We're buying everything now, but not installing until after Christmas. :) Thanks again all! And please do chime in with any other ideas/suggestions - you've been SO helpful!...See MoreFinished Conestoga cabs bathroom
Comments (26)Thank you so much olychick, you are always the sweetest! Thank you Polly, My second plumber was the Absolut best! The first plumber was hired for the guest bath mini makeover and was too lazy to put the mortar under the new tub before install when I had it sitting right there. My husband and I ended up opening a closet wall up and hand applying the mortar under/around one end of the tub after it was put in. The first plumber was also too lazy to take the toilet out to make more room before putting in the guest bath tub and nearly ripped one side completely off a fairly newish vanity. He was not asked back. The tiller was a nightmare to break-in. His prices were very high but I figured that since my job would be done in piecemeal and he understood that that it was a good compromise for all. Well, he thought he was going to be dealing with a little no nothing house wife where he could send less experienced tillers without a wet saw to my house to practice. I literally could not leave the room at first and it was a full time babysitting job. I literally had to pluck tiles or cove molding off the walls and make them re-do it. I had to send them home twice when they came without a wet saw as their prier use of an ancient dull portable resulted in tiny chips around cut pieces. FINALLY the whiny tile boss who only came to collect money got it through his head and sent me a great guy at the end. If this house as a whole did not need sooo much work we probably would have done the tiling as well. Now that it’s over I’m glad we didn’t have to tile as we would still be remodeling that room. As time goes on I will forget how much the tiller annoyed me though…maybe. And, just in case I may be thought of as unreasonable toward the tillers here is one of many examples of frustration while paying top dollar. This is how they did my cove tile baseboards the first time. This is after I made them do it over....See Morebathroom layout help needed!!
Comments (7)Sounds like you need storage solution. I would utilize the wall space along the window wall. Have you considered putting in closets on either side of the window? They only need to be 2ft deep so they won't protrude out much. I've also seen fantastic wardrobe units at ikea where you can pick and choose doors and heights. Very reasonably priced. If you don't need that much storage, you can put two beautiful dressers (not too high) on either side of the window, flank them with mirrors or artwork. I would also consider enclosing the toilet....See Morebpath
