No pets, no kids – what does an empty nesting couple do? Get a fresh new look for their home, of course! The house already had great lines and soaring vaulted ceilings, but the touches of the 70’s had to go. That started with the prominent staircase with large wood beams, which gave it a heavy, rustic feel. It was replaced with sleek, painted beams and a new cable rail system, visually lightening the entire entry. Worn out wall-to-wall carpet and old linoleum tiles throughout the downstairs were replaced by low-maintenance porcelain tile in a warm gray wood look-alike.

Large, high ceilinged rooms and tile floors can make a space feel cold, so we balanced that out with a warm color palette and natural textures. Deep plums and vivid rusts in the art, pillows, chairs, and rug define the living room and make it a cozy retreat. The fireplace, which started as dated red brick, becomes a stunning focal point after a facelift. It was faux finished with a custom blend of colors and given a new, asymmetrical mantle. In the dining room, the natural walnut table and console are paired with a 100% natural wool rug for a very organic feel.
