Pierrefonds Four-Bedroom House (Phase I)

One of our former clients (we helped him update his condo a few years ago) purchased his first home and (as he said he would), he rehired RMI for his newly acquired four-bedroom house. We wanted his new home to reflect its new owner - namely, a young, successful professional who wanted a modern but timeless, sophisticated and restful retreat.
One of the first things we tackled was the vestibule where we painted the existing white front door a bold black black and added interesting and sophisticated wallpaper to complement the existing floor tiles. A new chandelier, bench and re-purposed wall mirror complete the space.
Our next job was to get rid of the brightly painted walls and dated window treatments throughout the house. The entire house was painted Benjamin Moore's American White (with the exception of the master bedroom which was painted Cement Gray) to create a sophisticated canvas for the new design and the coffered ceiling and trim (now painted Oxford White) showcased this great architectural feature.
We were able to re-use his dining table and chairs from his former condo but added a sculptural show piece chandelier that echoes the design of the coffered ceiling. We also purchased new furniture for the living room in a monochromatic off-white palette. The bold graphic painting and black and white photography keep the space young and modern. The glass and chrome accent tables and chrome lamps keep the smallish space from feeling overcrowded. And the new window treatments (blinds for privacy) and ceiling height custom curtain panels create dramatic sophistication.
We removed the panelling along the curved wall of the staircase and replaced the ceiling fixture with a stately yet modern and masculine chandelier. New crown mouldings better work with the new design than the former ornate mouldings.
His master bedroom is a sophisticated yet relaxing space with dark charcoal furniture and a bold black and white graphic area rug and artwork complement the sophisticated and masculine charcoal upholstered bed.
Phase II will include new interior doors and hardware, a newly designed family room, breakfast room and home theatre in the basement. Watch this space!
