My Houzz: Vintage Cool Style for a Montreal Apartment
http://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/7899393/list/My-Houzz--Vintage-Cool-Style-for-a-Montreal-Apartment
When friends of this Montreal couple recommended they check out this newly-renovated Mile End walk-up, Marie Laurence and boyfriend Johan didn’t think twice. Newly renovated by their current landlord as his own personal space, they reaped the benefits when it went on the market.
Marie, a product designer by trade and an interior architect by profession, and Johan, an art director in advertising, both had a strong sense of style that they had no trouble uniting when they moved in together in May. Originally from Sweden, Johan’s style is distinctly Scandinavian. Marie’s style is based more on instinct. “I know it when I see it. If I see something I love, I won’t think twice about it.”
Using the white walls and exposed brick and wood beams as a canvas, Marie and Johan collaborated on incorporating their favorite classic vintage pieces and colorful artwork to make this Montreal apartment distinctively their own.
Houzz at a Glance
Who lives here: Marie Laurence and Johan
Location: Mile End district of Montreal, Quebec
Size: 700 square feet
That’s interesting: The showstopping La Mama chair in the living room almost didn’t make it into their home. After they realized it didn’t fit through the front door, it had to be hoisted up on ropes and lifted into their apartment through the back.
