Window Treatments

Keeping it Natural with Artist John Noffsinger

These photos showcase a display created at the Lorton Workhouse Arts Foundation, Lorton, VA, to feature the artist of the month, John Noffsinger,an award winning woodturner. A room with natural materials was created to complete the woodworker's art. The window treatment is an appliqued embroidered silk on a silk matka (often called raw silk) over a Conrad woven bamboo shade. A chair with eco friendly upholstery from Willem Smith, a Willem Smith pedestal, cork floor, and other items inspired by the natural world, completed the woodturned urn on the pedestal, and other items in the curio cabinet. An ebony wood finial was created by the artist for the tip of the valance panel. The lamp has leaves embedded in the mica shade. The photograph over the desk was taken by my late mother, Frances Hilgartner.
