My foyer help (pics)
Comments (9)Have you considered a large mirror over the console? I also like the darker smaller frame. Here are a couple i saw on houzz.com that I think would look great in your foyer. Comments (5)This is my opinion. I am not a fan of having two chairs in an entry way. I only use one because it's not a space that you're going to sit down with someone else and have a conversation. So only use one chair. Do not hang signs with words on them. Your house is too nice to cheapen it with that sign, so I would remove that. Then your problem with that table wall is you have too many items and they're all too small. Remove all of that and get yourself a couple of bigger pieces that make sense to be on an entry table. So maybe one decorative piece with a large bowl or tray. Or maybe a tall faux arrangement in the center and nothing else, let the piece of furniture stand on it's own. No candles, personal pictures, vases with nothing in them .... none of those things make sense there. And then either hang a much larger mirror over it or a large piece of artwork. You only need one lamp in the entry way so if you have one on the small table by the accent chair, then don't put another one on that entry table....See MoreFoyer help to brighten up!
Comments (9)Fwiw, "this old marble floor" is looking pretty good from where I sit. You have an enviable foyer with classic bones. Not sure I understand your goals though. You want to "spruce up" or "brighten up"? Are you lacking artificial light in the space? If the overhead light fixture is inadequate, start with a visit to a local lighting store for suggestions. Have the current fixture's specs in hand (type of bulb, number of bulbs, max wattage, size). You'll also need the space's dimensions including the ceiling height. If there's a wall outlet (or the possibility of adding one), you could also consider a small table lamp on one of the console tables. Painting the inside of the door black would counter the goal of adding more light to the space, imo. Budget permitting, a door with larger glass insert (aka "lite) to let more natural light into the space might make sense. The door style should harmonize with the house's style though. Can't see the current decor details but I favour large art on walls over small frames on entry tables. More design impact. Might want to look at entry pics for inspo?...See Morefoyer deco help!
Comments (12)I think we need to know a lot more about your style. I would not put a settee there but maybe post a pic of the piece you like. We are working in the dark I will say I do not like the idea of the very contemporay sculpture next to the saircase . This one of 1000S of google ideas so without any info how can we help?...See MoreDar Eckert
