Because I kind of stumbled upon them, I tried to PM the recipe owner for permission before posting but it didn’t go through. If they’re not ”claimed” within a day or so I’ll delete this post. But first, thank you, they are delicious!

This is my own production photo. I always felt the quantity of clove in this recipe appears high, but it works. I was also surprised that there is no ginger included— sometimes I sneak it in because it’s good for us.

Are they actually brioche? Or cakes in brioche molds?

Do I understand you made a recipe from this forum? Or the picture was?

It looks like a quick bread or muffin baked in brioche tins. Actual brioche looks different and would have the top knot.

The bakery / cafe that I ran for 35 years made pumpkin muffins in these tins and they were our most popular item. The crenellations give crispy edges that people love—- not the same if you use standard muffin pans with paper liners. Unmolding can be a bear. Baker’s Joy or Vegelene pan spray wirk the best.

Romy718 - I saw them at Advantage Kitchen & Bath in Niles. I've been to the Knobbery. A small place, but they pack a lot in their store. Studio 41 does carry Edgar Berebi. Nice line, but expensive. I figure they were going to be expensive before I found out who made them because of all the detail. What Studio 41 did you go to? I've been to quite a few of them. Kitchen project is going slowly. Making most my choices slowly as I'm real particular in my choices. Narrowed down a range to Bertazzoni, Capital or Blue Star 30" . I posted about my sink choices on the forum too. Thanks for asking. I'm assuming that you're aware that your kitchen is posted on you design firms Houzz page. You did a fabulous job on your kitchen. Carrie B - Yes, unfortunately the prices are per piece. According to their website that they are made to order. Nice, but will look for something less expensive. The place that I saw them at had a kitchen display with some handles that were more simple then these were which I sorta liked.

I have what looks very much like the same thing. I spent some time with a family in Barcelona back in the 60's. They gave me this as a gift when I left. I can only tell you what it was used for when it was given to me. During the last evening and the last meal my host brought it out with red wine in it. He had pushed a round tooth pick in the small hole. He then lifted the vase above his head and poured the wine in a very small stream onto his forehead and made it run down the side of his face into his mouth. He then presented it to me to try. After many tries and getting red wine all over my shirt I did it also. Not sure if that is all they are used for. I never did ask. Just a wonderful memory that will last forever.

Cement fountain from 1962, anyone recognize this mark/company?

I bought this fountain recently, and it is labelled 1962 with a logo/mark. I wonder if anyone knows the maker? It needs a little patching and maybe re-painting. I'm going to try to rig it up as a bubbler fountain in my little urban garden. Any advice on patching and/ or painting this cement material which is a bit crumbly would be appreciated :) Many Thanks

PS after many years of daily use the pans get dark in color, which yields nicer crisping. We actually sold some of our highly experienced tins upon request.

The numbers in red are to make a single dozen.. Golden raisins give a fruitier flavor than dark ones. When I bake at home I nudge the sugar down a little and use a bit of whole wheat flour.

The last month we were open I believe we sold about 8500 and that was with my amazing reduced-by-covid team.

My picture, Lisaam’s recipe. The clove amount felt like a lot so I halved, but next time I’ll try as written. Nutmeg, I had the grater out and everything but then I forgot to add. I love nutmeg so that’ll go in next time for sure. Walnuts, I’m iffy on nuts in my food so I omitted.

I made roughly the 2x amount, scaled down just a bit for a 15oz can of pumpkin. This made a dozen muffins so I guess my tins are too large by double but they worked. I used ensaymada molds instead of brioche.

Vegalene - That’s a new one to me. Liking the reviews but not the quantity I’d have to buy or Amazon delivery times. Do you agree it’s less prone to leaving that dreaded sticky residue? That might tempt me. I might make stocking stuffers out of the extra bottles.

I've made pumpkin muffins before...but I've never seen a pan like that....interesting.

The pumpkin muffins will stick to the pan with Pam. At the bakery we didn’t have time to grease each pan individually. My staff got very unhappy if we ran out of Vegelene. Since I closed the business and occasionally bake at home, I’ve been happy with Baker’s Secret. Regarding residue, I can’t really say if it does more than something else. For other baking projects I’m happy enough to use typical pan spray or grease and flour but all those curves in the brioche tins need hardcore help.

I'm more likely to do an old fashioned pan preparation for cakes and the like, but I do use spray for daily bread, pie, egg bakes, etc. I've been mostly using Spectrum Naturals Organic Sunflower, but sometimes use TJ's Avocado mister (not so much for preparing pans, though). These don't seem to leave the dreaded gunk. But it's just oil and sprayablity stuff--nothing whizz-bang to aid release (grease and Wondra or cocoa works so very well and only takes a minute...). Ingredients for the Sunflower oil spray: 100% mechanically (expeller) pressed naturally refined high oleic organic sunflower oil, organic grain alcohol from corn, soy lecithin, and propellant--compressed gas.

UPDATE: Coincidentally, I opened my last sprayer of sunflower oil. It seems that Spectrum doesn't make them anymore!
