grocery shopping yah or nay

last month

On the subject of general grocery shopping, contrary to rox, I actually enjoy it. (without DH). He either rushes me or ends up hovering. Both detract from my focus, and are not welcomed. I enjoy the thought processes going on; the continual monetary decisions and comparisons, the weekly menu plan being adhered to, or not, and needing to come up with a viable plan B, maybe gathering ingredients for a tempting new recipe, and always attempting to mesh food purchases with what is already in the freezer, fridge or pantry. I always have a list. It is written in terms of location in the store. That seems to work best. Add a new need to be attentive to sodium levels, and it's sort of a big deal. It can seem mundane, but is actually serious business at the same time.

With all this mental activity going on, I actually find it relaxing.

I know exactly where to find what I need, and appriciate that things aren't moved around.

I have learned that there are plusses and minuses with going on an empty stomach. It makes a huge difference. I end up mostly pleased either way.

I'm not at all interested in any kind of delivery service. The stores are close by, and I like to study each and every tomato and plum.

How about you? Yah or Nay?
