Ever tried this? Or, what do you think...
Comments (9)This sounds like a really good thing to try. What is the canola oil for? Does that make them hard to handle or a really messy project? I was thinking you could stabilize a bunch them in a cardboard box until you plant them. What's great about this idea is that you just plant the whole thing when you're ready. I just brought home a brown grocery bag tonight, thinking I would start using them for weed block, but now I am thinking they'd be good as ways to start large areas of thyme or other ground covers. I think I'd still try to stabilize them in boxes until planting out. Thanks for a cool new idea....See MoreTri tip roast.
Comments (2)Linda is correct...too many variables. I cook so many tri tips on the grill that I just sort of "know" how long one will take. Another variable is the weather, in terms of temperature. When I do a tri tip on the grill in Winter time, it takes longer than it does in Summer, the heat having to compete with colder air. The best thing to do is to prep the other elements of your meal so that they can all be pulled together in the 10 minutes that a Tri Tip should sit after it's off the bbq before you slice it, and just let the folks who are there to eat it know that they'll have 5 minutes to set the table after you yell for them! (We had Tri Tip tonight, cooked on the grill and served with horseradish-sour cream sauce, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, and carrots with dill butter.......BEEF-YUM!!)...See MoreDo you turn your chicken when roasting?
Comments (28)I did initially, breast side down, then midway through baking breast side up. Stopped doing that as it's something of a hassle and the chickens were fine... but last time I did turn it - my personal experience was that it was far more moist throughout - I had forgotten how much more, and makes for better leftovers, but that's just my opinion. I do cook mine in a CSO (cuisinart steam oven), and still have to cover the breast area with foil so it won't get too dark. Islay, my DH wants to marry you ; ) Bacon. I think that's all I need to say : )...See MoreDo you truss chicken before roasting?
Comments (21)LOL! Oh, I do love this group! How we just dissolve into "spreading legs" and "wanton chickens" so easily. This place is always good for a laugh. And I love the idea of the "cook's treat" piece of bread to hold in the stuffing - that is right appealing to me. Teresa, who doesn't currently truss, but might have to start once the Nesco roaster oven arrives - I see lots of roast chicken in my future!...See More- last month
