WHALE TAILS - I've used this one in hybridizing A LOT and you do get lots of whale tail patterns. WHEN MY SWEETHEART RETURNS - nice one from Apps that reblooms late. WHITE CHOCOLATE - saw this in Margo's garden and had to order it. She and Jim produce too many really nice "whites" and one can only use to many whites in the garden. WHITE FORMAL - Lenington 1965. Awful picture. Planted way over by the fence in the back yard and I've just never bothered to get rid of it ... I'll try to check to see if it is even there still. It did win lots of awards in its day. WHITE STRIPE - reblooms here, not all foliage is variegated by any means - quite a whitish flower. WHITE ON RICE - instant rebloom - not very white but very pretty WHITE EYES PINK DRAGON WILD WILD AND WONDERFUL WILD THORNBERRY - new here and not wonderful yet

Nice plant Nik;)! I’ve roughed up a few plants on the drive home. Start a new thread please. I think there are plenty of mesembs lovers to keep this thing goin. I’m lovin all the pics! The link you gave looks good. I haven’t read the article yet, but the pictures are beautiful. In some of the pics you can really see how these plants are perfectly mimicking their environment. It would fun to go searching for them in their natural habitat because they blend in so well. It’d be a Where’s Waldo but the mesemb version. I always say cactus are #1, but mesembs are definitely #2.

Last night's dinner......french fries from scratch. Man they took forever! LOL I soaked them in cold water, dried thoroughly and fried them twice. They were good though. Had a hamburger with them. I found a homemade gravy mix so that I could have beef gravy whenever I wanted it. I made some up, and then put some mozzarella chunks on the fries and the gravy, and made poutine. The gravy mix was meh, not sure if I'll keep it. It makes enough to keep in the cupboard. Beef or chicken bouillon powder (I smashed up 2 cubes, which was a pain), flour and some garlic powder and pepper. You melt butter, 2 tbsp of mix, make a roux and add water. Voila gravy, supposedly. Some expert was on a program last night and said that people looking at the signals can differentiate between wildlife and a human subject. If I still have the program on the DVR, I can try to find that segment because I cannot recall it he gave the details. It might be that there is a difference between the movement of say a deer, coyote and human. Another expert was ask why the dogs hadn’t yet tracked down the fugitive by his scent. I was curious about that myself because I had recently read somewhere that scent tracking dogs can be so good that they can actually follow somebody through a stream. I don’t know that they all have to be “bloodhounds“ per se. This expert was saying that there are different types of tracking dogs. Some dogs are trained to track the differences in crushed vegetation and he was pointing out that that is why it was distracting to have a lot of people trying to help but tracking all over the place. Other dogs are trained to track by scent. Until last night, the temperatures were about the same temperature as a human body 98 deg F so there wasn’t a lot of distinction between say any log rocks, surface of grass and a human being. But when the weather cooled and the surrounding air got colder than any small amount of heat of around safe, human body would be able to be picked up. I’m amazed though at the around 3,600 feet altitude that the equipment could detect that small of a heat signal. And remember the guy was small about 5 foot tall, and not very much meat on them so that would contribute to the very slight heat signal. If I was living around there, I would quickly get some trail cams, and also some good binoculars (actually, I have really good binoculars that lead in a lot of light) and I would turn the lights out or being a room where the lights were not on and stay looking out my windows I find that whole thing very interesting. But I also like solving problems like that. If you lose your contact lens or a diamond falls out of your ring, or lose your keys in the snow, I’m the one you want to call.
