Comments (151)Oh, that's bad, Trina! Poor Fox! We haven't had to deal with that here, thank goodness!!! Okay, and those of you saying to talk to the doctor, well, that is what I am pretty sure the email he read was about. He had gone to the doctor, and while he was there, joked around with his doctor that his wife thought he needs the blue pill. The doctor asked if we were trying to have any more kids, and when he said no, the doctor I guess told him that if he keeps losing weight I'll think he's a new man! And I was SO pissed that the doctor didn't take his joking seriously!!! Isn't a doctor supposed to dig when someone mentions something like that lightheartedly??? But, please don't think I'm not getting any - it's not that bad - it just doesn't last! But, he certainly makes up for it, so I'm not complaining too badly! ; ) As far as childbirth, I've been both ways. I didn't want to have drugs with any of them, but I have trouble going into labor on my own. So, I have had 3 births with a pitocin drip. Yuck!! Once it starts working, it makes it fast and hard. With all three of them, I had some painkiller, something they put in the IV, to take the edge off - I don't remember what it's called. With William though, I did go into labor on my own. (Though the doctor says it was because he had checked my cervix that morning.) So, no pitocin, no pain meds. And he was almost 9 lbs. - 8 lbs. 15 oz. And I have to say - that was my easiest labor! Incredibly painful, but maneagable. OMG - when I had William, I have this funny memory! I tore like crazy when I had him. The next day when I went to go pee, I used the little squirt bottle that they tell you to use to clean yourself afterwards, and I accidentally touched myself. It felt like there was a ball down there - I was swelled up so huge!! That was one of the weirdest feelings ever!!! Melissa - I don't know how you did that at home! We talked to a midwife when I was pregnant with Lily, but decided to stick with my doctor. But, on our own???? Scary! My mom said that her mom gave birth on their kitchen table - all 8 kids. And most of the time, the midwife didn't make it in time. She remembers her dad delivering her younger brothers and sisters. Wow - that is so cool Melissa!...See MoreWhat possible fun
Comments (23)You're all so kind. If I hear anything from the police, I'll post an update. You know--when I read the suggestion that these kids have their gifts taken (or stomped on) I thought, 'that's what I'd probably write to someone else in this situation'. But in all honesty? I don't even wish that upon these kids. It wouldn't make things right, and I just don't have it in me this year to be vindictive about this. Mostly, I just feel hurt. Now, mind you, I do think there would be some value in it, if their parents brought them over the weekend after New Year's and the families HELPED take the decorations down and organize them for next year's display. Maybe they'd all see how much work and effort goes into this. It takes my husband a couple of weeks prepping the stuff, and then usually a good week and a half of working pretty long hours to get it all up....See MoreNEW: January 2015 O.B.F. Comments (31)Cooper8828, good for you for stepping up! Yes, they are most likely nice people who just never thought about it before. A lot of times an exterminator just tells us what we should do and we blindly follow. The exterminators, for whatever reason, don't even educate their clients about how the poisons might kill non target animals etc. For your neighbors, if they are going to kill the mice, they need to get snap traps because those usually are instant and don't cause suffering (not all the time, but it's the most humane way to kill them) and the traps need to be enclosed so, for instance, a cat's paw can't be caught or a bird or squirrel isn't killed, etc. And even in those enclosures, sometimes another animals head can get caught in them and then something kills the stuck animal. It's all pretty awful. The most risk free way to do it is to have the traps IN your home where unsuspecting animals aren't at risk. (I'm no expert and just sharing what I've recently learned because there was a rodent problem in this new house we are renting and I've been working with the exterminators to seal the house and live catch and release what we have inside). Lucille, If you google, you will see that it's universally accepted that peppermint oil repels mice. When we moved in, I soaked cotton balls with peppermint oil to put near the holes where we saw droppings and that seemed to make a difference. We have since sealed the holes. In fact, when I was buying the peppermint oil, a guy next to me in line was telling me he did the same thing to an attic space and it worked like a charm. Our exterminators are going to install a seal for our garage doors that allows us to open it and keep rodents out. When they do it, I can let you know how it works because that is a better long term solution. But today, you could line the entrance of your garage with peppermint soaked cotton balls, or you can try a products like these granules ( granules). I have some but haven't used them yet so can't vouch about how effective they are. For anyone who might be interested in a live mouse trap, this works really well (live mouse trap)....See More- last month
