I'm confused. Why the secrecy about the name? Why the redacted words? And not really sure what the post is all about, other than to watch out for spam or potentially threatening posts. If this is coming off mean, I don't intend it to. I'm just confused. Lol. Sorry.

She's saying she's not going to be posting to announce a post as spam any more, we all should be flagging spam when we see it, and be careful with links because they may be malicious.

Dedtired cleverly wrote the post because we figured out that use of my name and the word s___ were triggering rejection of our posts. I tried to post, she tried to post for me, but her clever rewording seems to have gotten around the triggers. I just didn't want people to say, "Where's Sushi?" when s___ shows up. Be brave and flag it yourselves!

Sheesh! You'd think Houzz would be delighted to have help in the trenches, to fight canned meat.

I have thought that for a very long time. Just do your part and flag it and be done with it. (and that means all of us need to be flagging)

I have in a few instances run across a fresh can of meat within minutes of it being produced. Took a bite at it, refreshed a few mins later, it was already empty ... although of course I can't say if anyone else had already taken a bite.

I've gotten pretty good at spotting it, and it feels pretty satisfying to flag it as such.

Every now and then I'm unsure. Those I leave alone. Most of the time, if I think to go back to look in a few hours, they're gone....which tells me someone else was more confident than me. :-)

Also, it's pathetic that the overlords are attempting to ban discussion of this. I presume that must be what they're doing, if the "canned meat" word now triggers the filters?

I understood the above comment to be that her user name + the word spam triggers the filters. Not the word spam solo. As evidenced by the multiple times spam has been used in this post.

Could be a few reasons, probably mainly to drive traffic to a website selling a product; worse, but still very likely, is to embed malicious code into the clicker's system.

I read somewhere it's happening on Reddit postings where code is embedded in super-super tiny white font that the human eye can't see but AI can read. Probably happening all across the web, too. I don't know the details but honestly it makes me not want to do anything on the web anymore. That's not likely to happen, but I have cut down my recreational 'net use drastically.

My solution is to not click through unfamiliarly sourced, sketchy-seeming links - ever. If you're really curious, open another tab/window and do a web search for the business/product in question.

And this all makes me very curious what these pages would've looked like if our resident anti-spam crusader had never done anything 🤔

Thanks again Sushi for your anti-spm crusade. For some awful reason I woke up at 4 this morning and opened my laptop to discover 2 obvious spms - felt good to flag them.

I have seen/heard about weird filter things before. I have wondered if it's a GW vs HZ platform issue. Some people can't get Amazon to post (just the name, not talking links), others have had things caught for words that post for me without issue.

Either that or specific people have different levels of filtering. Or something.
