Depressed today, I just want it to be done so I can quit worrying
Comments (9)If I had a real solution to this, I wouldn't be going through so much beer. On a good day, can't wait to move in. On a bad day, don't care if I ever do. Neice was asking me the other day for some advice about building [she hopes to start soon], and I said: Don't. Just Don't. Buy something existing, buy a modular so all you have to do is choose the color of the carpet, live in a pup tent-- just don't even think about building from scratch. But today, I called her back and told her to dis-reguard all that: Sun was shining, finished another tile floor, started to believe there might really be an end to this endless stress and constantly crushed expectations someday. Maybe. Just try not to put too much effort or worry into things that are easy to change, like paint color; or impossible to change, like the neighbors. Don't expect to enjoy every step of this very long journey, and don't forget to stop beside the trail to take stock and gather strength every once in a while....See Moregetting there slowly but surely--floors done
Comments (16)Thanks for all the nice comments. As the work drags on I've gotten very discouraged and anxious for it all to end. The 5 of us have been doing most of our living in 2 rooms: the dining room(our temp. kitchen) and living room (which now has the tv in it). The temp kitchen is getting pretty gross. I keep telling myself we are LUCKY to have a temporary kitchen for the remodel Anyway...I'll be glad when it's over. As you know...this has been a labor of love. :) marti8a--i just figured out what you were asking about. What you are seeing on the bottom cabinets is not plywood, it's actually the unpainted maple cabinets, and yes, it will be covered by the range. michelle16--BM Nimbus, like the cloud linelle--yes, the old floors were pretty dark before the sanding. I was surprised how light they were able to get them with the sanding. Both floors will darken over time again....See MoreTime to Say Thanks-Just About Done Small Kitchen Pic
Comments (43)Yay! thanks again for all who sign in to join in my celebration of the New Year and the new kitchen despite the few detractors...This is a great forum full of wonderful GWebbers with generous heart and spirit! jane: I am linking the site with my particular hood model. My ceiling height by the cooktop is only 7.5 ft because of the soffit. For this reason many vent hoods will not fit unless a metal fabricator cut the chimney part shorter. I priced the labor for cutting and it was almost as much as the hood itself. Finally found Euro that came with an extension chimney. I ended up installing the hood with the shorter chimney. It is 26" above the cooktop, 2" shorter than the recommended height. All their models have the specification and dimensions on-line for calculation if you have the same problem as I do. And call them on the phone to verify the measurements. They are very helpful and assured me that the 2" difference is okay. Here is a link that might be useful: my shorter vent hood...See MoreFood chopper vs. Food processer
Comments (6)I have both...and use both, but for different reasons. We have the chopper on the counter all the time. We eat ALOT of onions and when I don't feel like chopping them with a knife, I throw them in there. It is really easy to throw the 3 small pieces in the dishwasher. (I have a back-up chopper in the cupboard! I would really miss the chopper) When I am making veggie soup, I use the processor. It holds alot more and it is quick and easy. I think you need to decide how you are going to/want to use it for the most....then you can decide on the one....See More- last monthlast modified: last month
