Thanks for the feedback -- @kmeemsie, I think I would match the celtic knot to the tile, but I am waiting to see the American Olean field tile colors in person. (I might do a creamy subway with a celtic knot in a sage-y color, something subtle but a slight contrast.) Or should I go straight subway and skip the accent tile? @regmoses -- thanks for sending me to your thread. It was helpful to read the comments you got. I loved the link to the arts and crafts subway! I am also open to other suggestions -- anyone else have any ideas? Thanks!!

Thanks so much for all the kind words. It's really all of you that helped make this happen- we searched this site so many times and found so many helpful people. I just hope I can give back. Here are some answers to the questions: Cabinets: we found a local cabinet maker (http://www.seattlecustomcabinets.com/) that was passionate about houses of our era- 1920s. He only does custom, and so was more expensive than other options, but choosing him was the best thing we did. If I have one piece of advice to folks that are in the planning stages, it would be that if you happen upon one of these people that is seriously passionate about your house (be it a designer, cabinet maker, GC, whatever), hire them right away! You can't find these people very easily and you can't buy the kind of advice they give. It was him that came up with the proportions and many of the details like the sink vent. Latches: We found these online for much cheaper than Rejuvenation and are very happy with their quality. Note that we ordered a large size (at the suggestion of someone who said you'll want them larger when you're older and it gets harder to grip smaller objects), and we like them. My advice for any hardware is to order one first. There a lot of places that sell cabinet latches online, but the exact ones we got are in the link at the bottom of this post. Handles: Restoration Hardware. Thing Left of Sink: this is a built-in compost bin. We didn't think about putting a lamp there (were thinking about more boring things like laptops), but that's a fantastic suggestion- thank you marcolo! Behind Nook: That will eventually be a window. The lack of it being there now is one of our many delays :( Fridge: Yes, it's an integrated Sub Zero (700 TCi). I recently finished redoing my kitchen. When we bought the house it was painted in antique white. I am a fan of bold color, in the style of the great Mexican Starchitects (Legorreta, Barragan etc.) however, when we sold our last house, we painted it plain ole white and I was amazed by how much it dressed up the house. So, when we moved into the new house, the first thing we did was, the opposite of the Stones, paint it white and sure enough that did the trick, for us at least. We used Benjamin Moore's Super White on the walls and Cotton Balls on the trim. Another thing I've done is replace all of the recessed light trims with various glass and antiqued looking ones. Check Bellacor and Lighting New York for these. The brand we like is Minka Lavery. Evidently these probably didn't sell well, I don't know why, because they are pretty cheap. The glass ones can be had for under $10 and the various metal finishes for about $25 to $40. The glass trim does not look like much but when it's in it really looks amazing! The glass glows and those that have seen them always asked me where I got the second light. Beautiful kitchen. I love the cat photo bombing the pictures. I have a rolling island in my new kitchen with locking casters so I can move it to different areas for different tasks including a serving table. Have you considered that? I really like those last rusty color pulls.
