WANTED: What do you drink and not drink?
Comments (77)It was fun reading all of this, especially since it goes back to '06. That first post of Lars with the cherry cream soda...yummmy. I only consume coffee if it's ice cream, Kahlua or some other dessert. I like tea, black, green, but not any spiced teas. Really dislike mint too. Mostly I drink flavored unsweetened seltzer, iced tea or lemonade. Occasionally I'll have a fruit soda, but I find them too sweet these days so I mix them with my seltzer. Alcohol? Not really. Don't like wine as a rule. I can deal with a little champagne or Asti. Will drink vodka, that Kahlua making it a Black Russian. Smiles. I can go several years or more without having any alcohol. Last year I turned my current [at the time] vodka into vanilla. This fall an old friend from high school came to visit and brought a bottle of vodka. I had 2 light Cape Cods and when he left I turned the Svedka into vanilla. LOL. In winter in the evening we either have hot tea or hot cocoa often. I do love hot chocolate made with cocoa or even a nice chocolate bar....See MoreWhat is a good food for a new puppy ?
Comments (11)Hi! I recently (2 weeks ago)got a 9 week old beagle puppy. I did a lot of research into brands, ingredients, whether the brand uses lab dogs to perform unnecessary medical tests on, etc and what I found sickened me but also enlightened me. I learned that many puppy, and dog food in general use a lot of corn, which can cause allergies in dogs, and some dogs are born allergic to it. I was told by my vet to find a food which had more protein than grain and fillers. What I found and decided to feed my puppy was one of two brands, both were highly regarded by pet stores and several vets I have spoken to. One brand, the one I am currently using (switching him slowly from the brand he had been on) is Merrick's puppy food (they have their own web site and a store locator for your area on the site) which contains: Turkey, chicken meal, chicken, duck, oatmeal, barley, whole brown rice, carrots, peas, cranberries and a host of other goodies including vitamins and minerals, no fillers, and is all natural. My dog LOVES it, is thriving on it and the vet approves of it. I can't tell you what the other brand's ingredients are, but the other one which was also highly recommended was "Wellness". I can purchase them both through my local pet store but they are not available in Petco/PetSmart (that I know of) but can be purchased at some pet stores or online through their website(s). I had my late dog on Science Diet for many years but had I known about this brand, I would have switched her to it too. They also have an older dog recipe and a complete line of products, all carried on their website as well. I hope this is of some help to you. I wish I had the website addresses at hand right now so that I could give them to you. If I can be of any additional help, please feel free to email me. Good luck and have fun with your new puppy!...See MoreLOOKING for: Good News! I am Running a Snack Bar!
Comments (12)LOL, Annie...but I am able to get whatever my "culinary skills" out there....it is fun for me and exciting...and I did make more than min wage around these here parts when I did do it...I also got a catering job last weekend...I didn't make much...like $60 bucks...but they also didn't want me to home made anything..just coordinate...had me pick up that dastardly fried chicken from Walmart!! UGH!! I picked up 100 pieces...they took home 70 pieces..what a waste of money. I'd rather have been able to whip up some chicken and dumpling casserole for half the price and much tastier! They were very pleased with me and gave me a big ten dollar tip lol. I'll take it. And hopefully this will lead to other jobs...we'll see! Glenda, my little Buddy..you always have a good word for me and I luv ya for it!! Janice...See MoreI want to read some good news
Comments (77)I just avoid the news if I need to. I usually watch our local news updates (airs during the Today Show) and the national news updates are shown on the Today Show, but mostly pay little attention. We are in similar shoes as my father moved to an Assisted Living facility this week. It's been a hard week, mostly emotionally. I know it is best for him and his attitude is great, but it's just hard to see someone leave their home of 56 years. Wide open with a bit of acreage and privacy. He has a nice big room/bathroom (private) and thankfully we were able to get him on the backside of the villa, which overlooks woods. There's a large screened porch also. He's very used to peace and quiet (especially at night) and was worried about that. Thankful for the amazing caregivers he will have. We used this facility with my grandmother and they previously only had memory care. Now they have opened two villas for assisted living. My dad's mind is great but at 90 (in two weeks) his body is wearing out. Looking forward to a better week - it already is as the sun is shining and spring is in the air!
