Travelers, Have You Tried Firefly Recovery?

I'm going on a long flight soon (20+ hours total) and am wondering about 1) leg/foot swelling and 2) my restless leg syndrome. I'm concerned that I'll be going crazy(ier) on the plane.

I now get all kinds of FB ads for compression socks and other "preventables/remedies" and am wondering what's best. I fear that compression socks will trigger my negative sensation of tight things.

Has anyone tried Firefly Recovery?

That looks bogus to me.

It says it stimulates muscle contractions to increase blood flow. The movement of any part of the body does the same. Do it repeatedly and especially when it's load bearing, your blood flow will increase as your heart rate does.

What Elmer said. I don't have any advice about compression stockings, but I do know that you should get up and walk around the plane often (hourly when you're not sleeping), and do leg exercises when you're sitting. Drink plenty of water, which will help force you to get up (I hope you have an aisle seat!).

I grew a variety of the most talked about heirlooms this year. This was my first time trying anything other than Early Girls and similar varieties. Thanks to all on this forum for getting me out of my early-hybrid rut. I acknowledge that everyone's taste is different, but here's what I observed in my multitude of taste tests this year:. The Brandywine Sudduth had an amazingly smooth, creamy, dense meat. It has been described as almost a buttery texture. That's what I thought when I tasted it. I found the Stump of the World, the Brandywine OTV, and the Brandyboy to be very similar to the B-wine Sudduth in texture; different, but similar, in taste and all VERY GOOD. The OTV sometimes had less smooth texture, almost on the edge of being mealy, dependent on overnight cold temps. Marianna's Peace had a Sudduth-like texture, although a bit less dense and a bit lighter flavor. I liked Marianna's Peace BEST of ALL. The PrudenÂs Purple also had a Sudduth-like texture and the taste was good, but noticeably not as good as those mentioned above. It had the very best taste and texture of all the shorter season tomatoes in my greenhouse, though. My Prudens Purple vines were earlier than my Early Girls and much better tasting, meatier, and with a smoother denser texture. The Neves had a rich meaty texture, more traditional, and not so creamy smooth, but never mealy. It had a very rich, rich, rich tomatoey flavor. It is our favorite for flavor. PRODUCTION The numbers below show my best production numbers so far. My semi-insulated heated greenhouse is still producing: Goliath Hyb.........ÂÂ.12 @ 105oz Neves Azorean Red.......8 @ 104oz Brandywine OTV..........5 @ 88oz Marianna's Peace.....Â. 5 @ 84oz Prudens Purple........Â.. 7 @ 84oz Sophie's Choice.....Â...17 @ 84oz Mortgage Lifter#1....Â17 @ 80oz Mortgage Lifter#2...ÂÂ6 @ 77oz Early Girl Hyb......ÂÂ.16 @ 75oz Brandyboy Hyb........Â...7 @ 75oz Early Goliath Hyb.....Â..8 @ 65oz Stump of the World...Â.3 @ 55oz Brandywine Sudduth......2 @ 45oz Stupice...........ÂÂÂ...25 @ 42oz Next year I will grow MariannaÂs Peace and Neves for taste and production. I haven't tried the packets but I've had the green tea in the bottle. It was a little too sweet for me but you can probably adjust that with the packet...just not use as much. Great idea for the condiment wallet. And I call it a "glove box" too.....is there another name? I guess it should be called the "map,insurance verification,salt packets,pen and owner's manual box". LOLOL

I haven't been to the Japanese markets since the pandemic started because there are always long lines to get in. The stores tend to be crowded and have narrow aisles, which is not ideal, but next month I should be okay about going, since my vaccinations will be complete and in effect. I do have kewpie mayonnaise, but only use it when I make okonomiyaki. I think I need some more okonomiyaki sauce. I could make it myself, but one of the ingredients is ketchup (I think), and I never stock ketchup. I suppose I could use tomato paste instead. I never buy mustard anymore, now that I have found a recipe for it that I like, and I have a good supply of mustard seeds and powder.

I saw too many horses at below zero temperatures in early December where you could see their ribs to just state it is just a few. Even if the horses only grazed they should not have been in that condition at that time of the year. I would like people to look at the condition of their horses and how they are being treated. Do not do what I initially did and looked then mentally said nice horses. It was only when I actually looked did I see the condition they were in. I do wonder if some are confusing the other Anabaptist groups with the Amish. There are other groups who do use and do some of the things that the Amish do but without the disregard for the care of animals, wives and children. Amish also group themselves under 'house' and 'church' some using modern convivences where necessary. One of those interesting things about Amish made stuff is that in certain areas the factory may have an Amish label on it but most of the workers are not.

I googled for medical opinions on the Firefly device. Didn't find medical advice (admittedly I gave up rather quickly) but did find the review linked below. One point to note is that the battery is single use and good for approximately 30 hours, after which it must be replaced; this adds $$ to the initial cost.

I share your concern about the stress of such long confinement. I like an aisle seat because it seems roomier, somehow.

There are exercises you can do in your seat in addition to a walkaround as often as you can. I sometimes stand up and stretch without leaving my seat area. I might look silly, but don't care.

You could ask your physician about something to ease your mind and any anxiety, relax your legs. (If you get something, try it out before being on a plane.) Be sure you have comfort items like travel pillow/blanket unless provided by the airline.

You could get some compression socks and wear them around for a day or two to see if you like them.

Needless to say, stay hydrated.

When you exercise a muscle, the blood vessels expand to allow more blood to that muscle. Other blood vessels constrict to help direct the blood. The general blood flow increases as well as the heart works harder. Whether the linked device accomplishes all that, I have no idea.

I wear compression socks when I travel. I prefer the Comrad brand. I use the ones with moderate compression. They provide sufficient compression without being too much.

Show me the flight with passengers cruising the aisles at will. The Fasten Seatbelts sign will appear. You can stand at your seat a few times.

How long do you just sit when you're at home? In a car? You just need *some* movement. I'd do foot/ankle circles, some glute compressions, upper body movement. Compression stockings could help -- *light* compression.

DH and I eventually realized that the cost of sleeper seats was well worth it when we'd fly Chicago-Maui.

Now I will only plan to travel once the Transporter Room is a reality. Then I'll worry that my molecules will get mixed up in transit.
