“Expedited” shipping

I’ll state up front that I know there are far greater issues in the world. But after stewing over this for a while and finally letting it go, the company just sent me a customer service survey and now I’m annoyed all over again. Please tell me what you think:

On Sunday, July 27th I ordered some products which I needed for the following weekend. A current promotion included free shipping, but I opted for $35 expedited shipping, 2-3 business days. A day or two later I got notification that PART of the order was processed and would be delivered July 30, which it was. I contacted the company and asked about the rest of the order, requesting that if it wouldn’t arrive by Friday to just ship it regular free shipping and prorate a refund on the expedited shipping. At that point email correspondence told me since the order had shipped (it hadn’t) it was too late to change. Chat told me that they were behind on orders due to high response to their promotion, and it might take up to 3 weeks to ship. I received the remainder (and bulk) of the order on August 7, after my event.

My feeling is that if I’m paying for expedited shipping, I’m paying for immediate expedited shipping, not expedited shipping when they feel like shipping it.

Like I said, it’s not the biggest concern in the world. I’m just curious if others think I’m justified in my annoyance

That's disappointing. I understand why you would be at least annoyed, if not more agitated about it. What company were you buying from?

You should be refunded. You didn't get what you paid for it at all.

    GT 5000 Motion Control Lever

OK, I can't recall anybody posting this problem previously (but that does not mean it does not occur). I only have the line drawing IPL to view, so I'm guessing vibration may play a part (or all) in this item breaking. If it is due to vibration fracturing over time, I would feel more comfortable getting the broken lower shift lever/plate welded with a bit of reinforcement added. But there is always the possibility that yours was defective from day 1 and just took this long to succumb to the disease.

    Reverse of Whitney

    Q

Roberto, Robusta is a type of Sans. that grows from cutting of any Futura type plants. Notice, the seller makes no claim that this is 'Eve' or a Whitney reverse. That's why I posted this. What if?? There is a site that sells some very interesting Sans. http://www.ornamentalplantstore.com/ There is an overseas shipping of $35. Lets us know how you make out. Bmock, Thanks for the link. I think they are wholesale only. And I did look up 'Eve'. I will have to keep my eyes open at the Big Box Stores. I am starting some cutting from my Futura that lost a leaf while handling. I know Robusta will result but if I could get some green stripping, well we will see.

    Update on efaucet tub

    Comments (2)
The 2nd tub came today, it was the same poorly crated almost no crate packing. The tub was fractured in 3 places, my H saw it and, well, I can't say the rest, just know it was very ugly. I did a search in the big city closest to us, almost 2 hour drive, and they ordered it in 20 min, to be picked up Friday!!!! We will never, ever make this mistake again. Mistakes, yes, but not with efaucet.com. Great customer service, poor handling.

Agreement from both poles, what more can I ask for? Corelle.

That doesn't even seem like a difficult product to come by? It must have been some really special Corelle???

Nah Rob their most basic. Looking at Amazon now I could have them by tomorrow for free. Not my smartest purchase. 🤪

edit - This was bugging me so I checked the receipt. The 30% off at the time more than paid for the shipping. I guess that’s why I went that route. Of course Amazon would have delivered on time which would have been nice.

Expedited shipping charges should always be refunded if the company failed to complete the shipping. That should be a no brainer especially for a huge company. I would complain until they refunded it. It is pretty funny to see those two agree on something 🤣

Squeal. Squeak. Get your shipping back. Think of it as doing your due diligence for humanity.

I’m with team refund here. I’d be on the phone to them & explain I’m looking at their survey and deciding how to rate their service but have opted to give them a chance to provide great service first…..

It seems to me that they didn't have the rest of your order in stock or it would've been shipped with the July 30 order. Did you get most of the order on July 30? They did expedite that part.

With no intention to gloat, I've just had a somewhat opposite experience. It may help some feel better to see that the world is not as s'ed up and out of kilter as each day's news suggests it to be.

Last Thursday, late evening, I purchased a PC accessory item from Lenovo's website. Not a big item but a tad under $100. I saw that that delivery would be by Thursday of this week. That's fine, the typical one week ground shipping to Calif from the East Coast. When checking out, it said something like "How would you like free expedited shipping and get it Tuesday?". Free is always a good price for something that's useful, so I opted for that.

I got notification from UPS about an upcoming delivery. The item is on a truck this morning and will be delivered today.

So keep the faith, fruit. Your next experience may be like this one.

    Fruit?

Define most. They sent two bowl and a set of 8 plates on time. That was two or three parts of the order, depending how you define it. But I’d say the main part of the order was a single 38-piece set. That went out a week late. And yes as far as UPS is concerned both were expedited. The delay was Corelle, and if they were out of stock or otherwise not prepared to ship it faster, they should not have offered and taken payment for expedited shipping, for that item. IMO.

Fruit is a kind of food. Slept late, pre-coffee entry.

Sounds like you needed an entire set of white dishes for an event. Sounds like 75% of your order arrived a week (7 days you said) after the 25% arrived. In my book the vendor should refund you the entire $35 expedited shipping fee. The expectation was that you’d receive the entire order at once on July 30 for the fee of $35. That $$ should be back in your pocket and off their books.

It sounds like you haven't called the company and asked for a refund. Shouldn't that be the next step?

I bought a set of Corelle about five years ago because I wanted something that would fit in my Miele DW. I love it and haven't broken a piece. It's sturdier than it looks.

No, I haven’t called yet. Phone calls don’t document well. But I have multiple email chains and a copy of the text chat exchange. At some point if I maintain interest I’ll dispute the charge with my cc and let them deal with it.

Yes, I did buy them for an event, a large family weekend, to supplement some light dishes my sister has. I wanted some lightweight dishes anyway that are durable, not plastic, that carry out to the deck easily and I have seen Corelle recommended many times here on KT. Nothing fancy but they fit the bill.

We have porcelain dishes (they're German, should that matter) that fit into our Miele dishwasher just fine. Very large bowls (think of them like a restaurant style pasta or very large salad bowls) don't fit upright because of the configuration of the bottom rack tines. But they fit fine and hold firm when tipped over.

A dishwasher we have trouble with is a GE at another home. Compared to the Miele, it holds very little.

Same here, Elmer. My run has been old GE, circa 1990’s Miele, new Bosch, old GE (moved), new Bosch, and now a circa 2017 KA in second house, and it’s a crime how little all my American units hold/held relative to German.

I was once in a thrift shop that had a shelf of white Correll dishes.. I sorted out about 20 of the best and paid some pittance for them and have since not only used them for family do's but also foisted them off on people who would have used disposable. I am agressive about it. Who needs a lap full of spaghetti or what ever when you can use easily washable dishes. Save yourself a fortune at the same time. If one gets broken, well no problem.

Oddly I also ran into an antique store that had a shelf of really nice French Limoges china. Well, same thing. You can have a more upscale event and stick them in the dishwasher.

food, the problem with the GE we have is that the tines are TOO close together. The basic Crate and Barrel porcelain plates we have at that place have a gently rounded rim. When plates are put into adjacent slots, the top face of one plate is obscured from normal water flow by the bottom of the next plate. The upshot is that the capacity is half of what it should be, because only every other slot can be used. With bowls, it's even worse.

There's an "expedited shipping" tie in to the dishwasher detour. When the dishwasher that was in this second home died, it was pandemic time and appliances were in short supply. The GE was what we could get at the time. I understand now, after the fact, why supplies were available - it can't have been very successful product line. I don't know if we will continue to accept its poor performance or instead, maybe, just junk it and get another.

When my DD turned 21, she wanted a barbecue party to celebrate. I bought a heap of china plates and bowls from IKEA for guests to use for their food rather than use paper plates. From memory they were $1 or less each and I'm still using them 20 years later. I dislike paper plates because they tend to collapse if you're trying to cut food on your lap, and I think they are wasteful.

@foodonastump, I would at least want the shipping costs back, as you clearly didn't receive what you paid for. I ordered some chemicals for work to perform an experiment as an exhibit for our Science Department display at our school centenary celebration. I stressed that they had to arrive in time for the centenary as otherwise I had no use for them. (I ordered them about three weeks before the date.) They arrived a week late. I contacted the company to complain and return the chemicals but instead they refunded what I paid and told me to keep them. That's an acceptable save.

Team refund here too. You did not get what you paid for - part of what you paid for was expedited service.

When we bought this larger house, I went into total panic and bought a large amount of plain white dishes (porcelain that has yet to chip, nick, or show a knife mark in 12 years now) and a good weight flatware. And, I did need it, until Covid that is. I bought at a great special from Sur la Table. A couple of the pieces from the place settings (dishes) arrived broken. I called them. They said 'do not handle them other than to throw them away. We do not want our customers cutting themselves!' No evidence required of my claim, no proof other than my word, no photos requested. Replacements were shipped the next day. They may have my business forever.,,,,😊

My mother, and sister who moved in w/her a few months ago, never use anything but disposables for gatherings, and usually for daily. Crapload of dishware there and a dishwasher (new when sister moved in, the replaced 20yo was like new due to rarely used). Apparently they think dishwashers are $$$$$$$$$$$ to run and would rather add to landfills.

Yes, FOAS, the Bistro. I have service for 36 although don't have and didn't need 36 cereal bowls. If I ever need more than that (it's happened all of about twice) DH has two sisters who have maybe 100 heavy clear glass dinner plates between the two of them and I can borrow.

I did replace the coffee mugs with glass hot beverage mugs from a restaurant supply. Men complained about the 'hand feel' of the mugs that came with the place settings.

I’m happy to report that I just got another response from Corelle and they’ve agreed to refund just over half the shipping cost. I’m satisfied with the resolution.
