She was in her teens at that time also, and deaf. But no matter where she was in the house when a John Denver record was put on, she came out of hiding and laid against the sterio. I would love to see that memorial. The bees and others are taking advantage of a fall flowering daisy on this beautiful mid October day....See MoreI'll Show You Mine if You Show Me Yours Wed Jan 27
Comments (8)An Airglow Fan from Lake to Sky Image Credit & Copyright: Dave Lane; Rollover Annotation: Judy Schmidt Explanation: Why would the sky look like a giant fan? Airglow. The featured intermittent green glow appeared to rise from a lake through the arch of our Milky Way Galaxy, as captured last summer next toBryce Canyon in Utah, USA. The unusual pattern was created by atmospheric gravity waves, ripples of alternating air pressure that can grow with height as the air thins, in this case about 90 kilometers up. Unlike auroras powered by collisions with energetic charged particles and seen at high latitudes, airglow is due to chemiluminescence, the production of light in a chemical reaction. More typically seen near the horizon, airglow keeps the night sky from ever being completely dark....See MoreI'll show you mine, if you'll show me yours...... ART WORK that is!
Comments (70)I tried to post and found all my air-dropped files were in a format that would not post. Will have to find time to redo them. But my art is so different -- some "fine" and a lot of contemporary and folk art. This was the only one that worked and I took it down towait, but in case I don't make it back (I am behind on an 8 week course and trying to get caught up) -- this will be my one contribution. This is titled Angels from Above and was painted in response to the attack on 9/11. It hangs in my LR where I have an Americana folk piece, a new still life that may not have found its permanent home and some other contemporary art. It's an eclectic grouping with the link being rich saturated colors. The sofa is midnight velvet and the chairs are natural linen, both treated as neutrals. The background is an inset above the mantle that was painted for another painting when this was in DR. It isn't terrible with the painting, but were painted the walls and now I want to pick a new color for the inset and different painting....See MoreI'll show you mine/ysmy - W 10/1/25
Comments (24)Crashed car. This is the car that rear-ended me September a year ago. Nothing that over $10,000 in repairs and $2,000 in rental car couldn't fix. I am so thankful that the young man had excellent insurance. And I'm thankful that the damage was to the back end of my car and that no one was injured....See More
