Comments (14)The apartment building is in Darmstadt Germany. It is called Waldspirale. The builder made these "hundertwasserhaeuser" in several cities. On the link (sorry, in German) click on the dates at the left side. It shows pictures of when it was built. It was started in September 1998 and finished in September 2000. Taken with a close-focusing lens on January 18 from Milton Keynes, UK, it shows multiple images of the sky above the western horizon shortly after sunset. 10 years agolast modified: 10 years agoMy Christmas cactus on November 1. It went downhill from there. I think I did water it too much. So, with socks and rob's help, I am trying to revive it.
It's not planted in this pot. It is sitting on a couple of plastic pots in this pot.

The featured intermittent green glow appeared to rise from a lake through the arch of our Milky Way Galaxy, as captured last summer next toBryce Canyon in Utah, USA. The unusual pattern was created by atmospheric gravity waves, ripples of alternating air pressure that can grow with height as the air thins, in this case about 90 kilometers up. Unlike auroras powered by collisions with energetic charged particles and seen at high latitudes, airglow is due to chemiluminescence, the production of light in a chemical reaction. More typically seen near the horizon, airglow keeps the night sky from ever being completely dark.
