Chocolate recipes...hope you like them :)
Comments (8)I'm glad you all like them...I'd love to be eating those crepes, this morning! I need to go buy some good quality, chocolate bars :) Deedles- I saw Laura Calder's kitchen for the first time, thanks to a link from a GW post. The minute I saw those blue tiles...I was hooked. I love white, blue and plants...have you seen my bunny tiles? LOL As for inspiration pictures, I usually look up 'english country cottage kitchen' or french country kitchen' or eurpoean country kitchen' sometimes even 'rustic romantic' but that's usually a bit too frilly...although I've found a few good pictures. Vintage kitchens might be a good place, too....See MoreRecipes: are you like me?
Comments (19)Baking...yes I follow exactly. I have never found a knack for baking. Cooking, it is rare I follow a recipe. My routine is usually: get a protein out of the freezer in morning browse recipes ideas at work about 4:00 and pick an idea make a mental note of what was in recipe and can I replicate with what's in the pantry? "wing-it" when I get home My favorite this week was a pork roast cut into bite sizes pieces. Coat in a brown mustard, italian dressing, and honey mixture. Throw in pan and add onion and mushrooms. My ex loved to make one thing....dill chicken. I keep a well stocked pantry, but he could never find anything. He always went to the store and bought every ingredient the recipe called for. When he moved out and I cleaned the spice shelf, I had at least 6 little jars of dill!...See MoreGreek Lemon Egg Soup / Avgolemono
Comments (10)Here's the recipe I use for sauce; to make soup, add more stock: Avgolemono Sauce (use this sauce over noodles with chicken) 1 cup stock (or 1 cup water with 1 tsp soup base – vegetable orchicken) 2 tbsp butter 2 tbsp flour 4 tbsp lemon juice (approx. one large lemon) 2 eggs 2 tbsp water 1/8 tsp cayenne 1/2 tsp black pepper salt to taste, unless using soup base that contains salt) Heat the stock, or heat the water and dissolve the soup base. Make a roux with the butter and flour and add the stock. In a separate bowl, lightly beat the eggs and add the lemon juice and water. Slowly add this mixture to the thickened stock, stirring constantly, and heat to desired temperature. Add pepper and salt, as needed....See MoreDo You Have A Recipe You Like?
Comments (31)This is one version I have jotted down. I remember my mom would sometimes use spinach and add sliced egg and mushrooms. Wilted Lettuce With Hot Bacon Dressing About 6 cups greens of choice 1/4 cup green sliced green onions (or 1/4 cup thinly sliced red onion) 5-6 slices bacon, chopped 1/4 cup sugar 1/4 cup white wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar Cook the bacon pieces till crisp. Remove from pan and drain on paper towel. Add the sugar to the bacon fat and pour into a heatproof bowl. Combine lettuce and onion in salad bowl. Slowly add vinegar to dressing mixing well. Toss dressing with salad. Dressing can be made in advance. Reheat in microwave 15-20 seconds before tossing with salad just before serving....See More- 6 months ago
