Comments (23)Morning All, Hi Anney....long time no talkee!! This is the first year I've used the clips and I really like them. Timmy1 is a commercial grower and uses them so I'm sure they work just fine. Pruning concentrates the growth in that one stem so it gives you a stronger central stem. Pruning the suckers also gives you less fruit per plant but supposedly bigger fruit. Plus, at least in my case, it makes it easier to manage your plants. I'm sure the experts...Digdirt, Carolyn137, Timmy1, and a host of others can give you other reasons for pruning. This is my third year just using the twine and have never had a problem with support, even with heavy fruit loads on the plants. I would think cantalopes would need extra support like nylon stockings...stick the melon in the stocking then tie it off to whatever is supporting the twine. I "top" my plants when they hit my support bar which is at 6 feet. Yes, Yorkies are diggers. They were originally bred to go down badger holes to root them out. Tough little critters!!!...See MoreGlenda..wanna' make your 'Bacon Bread'
Comments (18)Here's the recipe I had: Pull Apart Bacon Bread Time 15-20 minutes Serves 8 Ingredients 12 slices of Bacon, diced 1 (1 lb) loaf frozen bread dough, thawed 2 Tbsp. olive or vegetable oil, divided 1 cup (4 oz) shredded mozzarella cheese 1 (1 oz) envelope Ranch salad dressing mix How to make it In a skillet, cook bacon over medium heat for 5 minutes or until partially cooked. Drain on paper towels. Roll dough out to 1/2 inch thickness and brush with 1 tablespoon oil. Cut into 1 -inch pieces; place in a large bowl. Add the bacon, cheese, dressing mix and remaining oil. Toss to coat. Arrange pieces in a 9 x5 inch square on a greased baking sheet, layering as needed. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 30 minutes or until doubled in size. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Cover with foil and bake 5 to 10 minutes longer or until golden brown. *** Sharon, my sincerest condolences on your loss....See MoreLinguine with Bacon, Baby Spinach and Sage
Comments (16)I re-read the recipe and saw that it did specify diced bacon before cooking....duh... I have some reservations about all that bacon fat, though. Here's the recipe and you can see what I mean: http://ronzonihealthyharvest.newworldpasta.com/pasta_meal_recipe_detail.cfm?src=search&recipeId=8055&pastaCutId=502&brandId=4 The recipe calls for whole wheat spaghetti instead of linguine, otherwise it's exactly the same. When I make bacon, I always drain the fat and this recipe doesn't. The onion is sauteed in the fat and then the rest of the ingredients are added. It probably tastes good, but all that fat???...See More- 6 months agolast modified: 6 months ago
