It's usually caused by an improper diet, although some domestic breeds have a genetic predisposition to it. It will not harm her, but it's unsightly and will make her unable to fly. If caught early enough before the feather shafts are completely grown in and solidified, it may be fixed with bandaging the wing in a certain way, although it's not the easiest thing to do, especially if you've never done it.
