New Irrigation system failing. Need Help!!!
Comments (1)I'm not a lawyer, and didn't even stay at the Holiday Inn last night, but I've dealt with enough product liability claims to suspect that you are being jerked around. If the pipe is in fact defective, I believe an attorney would inform you that you have claims against both the installer and manufacturer of the pipe. Many jakeleg "licensed professionals" will not report claims to their insurer until you force them to, by certified mail. Defective PVC springing leaks. This just doesn't "feel" right. Other than their sayso, how can you be sure the leaks are occurring in the pipe? And I doubt they bought the pipe directly from the maker. I'd get a written estimate in hand, then see how much of this they are willing to put into writing, and follow up to contact the maker directly, to see what they have to say. In the meantime, you can Google up your rights for defective products under the laws of Michigan. Shouldn't take long....See MorePatience Finally Pays Off = new growth
Comments (13)Hey Denise, Boy that's quite a comeback that Australis made, from bare sticks, hard to believe. I'd forgotten what nice leaves Australis have; been a while since I had one. Glad to see you've defrosted from that deep freeze. I was keeping you & my uncle in mind (He lives in Lincoln, but hails from NY's upstate snow country, so he knows how to do super cold winters better than most). He says add more layers. Yes, thanks Josh, when I saw the new growth was more than one leaf, I did give it some dilute fertilizer. I've had to move some plants around (put in an AC this summer, lost me 2 window sills worth of west window growing space), so I've had to experiment with moving things around. I realized after the fact, this Hoya cutting ended up right next to a radiator, which has been cranking some serious heat on & off. Wonder if maybe that acted somewhat like bottom heat & gave this plant a boost. Yes, as to the dessicated, 'you never know' examples, that can be a bit true sometimes of bare vines too. Last Sept. I got some cuttings from SRQ (enabled by GreenToe, ;>) thx) among them a lovely Verticillata variegate, which I didn't realize til later had a break in the end of a bare vine. So I saw the break & snipped first, THEN saw the peduncle on it, ACKKKKK. Well, am happy to share saving that bit of stem & peduncle, w/ a lovely new leaf, a happy & lucky little save, may it make it to Spring! I DO love variegates, so pretty. Am happy to share I was pleased w/ all of Joni's cuttings as most of you all seem to be....See MoreNew member with new question -compare two systems
Comments (15)Augie What size and efficiency systems both up and down do you have now-cooling and heating? Any specific issues with existing systems? I will assume you have conventional furnaces now. If you replace only outside condenser and inside evap coil and pair with existing furnace, you are just as well off staying with basic 13 SEER condensers. If you want higher SEER 15+, you must go with either two stage var speed furnace or at very least a single stage furnace model with high eff x-13 blower. I also question the sizing of the furnaces you were quoted. I will give a pass to the dealers on furnace models because these Trane furnaces whether down flow or upflow are adaptable to horizontal application which I suspect is what you have now. In other words, not a big deal. I do take exception to Mike's statement above about a two stage furnace running on low stage 90% of the time. Not true unless you have a true two stage thermostat. In fact if you use the timer on the furnace, you would be running probably 90% of time in high stage. A pet peeve of mine what dealers do to homeowners in this area. And yes a two stage stat costs more but will easily pay for itself. At this moment AHRI site is down. I will look up a system using both two stage furnace XV80 and single stage high eff blower XT80 for upstairs. I also recommend a pleated filter media cabinet that Mike suggested. Comments (10)Thanks tigerdunes. From reading many of your responses to other threads, I was ready to hear you ask if other brands were available. Our builder is a custom home builder but I know he has a pricing agreement with the contractor for all of his homes. I will inquire about the possibility of a different contractor regardless. Elite series on all components - condensers and furnaces? I admit I like the idea of getting to the better components in the Elite level but the upgrade costs seem excessive to get there. In previous threads, I have found recommendations against spending $1k to upgrade from the ACX series to the XC series due to the prohibitive pricing. The structure will be a 1 1/2 story with a basement. Both furnaces will be in the basement. Main floor unit will have all ductwork in the basement feeding up to main level. Second floor unit will have ductwork running up to attic above second floor living area with ductwork running in unconditioned space. An additional question - what about the possibility of consolidating to a single system using zoning vs two systems? I imagine this would allow you to have a very nice staged system inside and out for the same pricing. Since this is a new build, we could do whatever it required for ducting from the get go....See More- 4 days agolast modified: 4 days ago
