I’m not really sure. Tried looking up how you tell the difference between bronze and brass. It didn’t help. I think the owl bookmark that belonged to my mother is brass? The other two are bronze, I think….

Michele, bronze contains more copper and is therefore heavier than a similar size in brass. Also by tapping, bronze has a deeper ’ring’.

IMPE, bronze tends to look darker colored than brass, which has a bright golden hue when polished.

Public statuary tends to be bronze...

Bronze is a combination of copper and tin; brass is a combination of copper and zinc, which is why the colors look different - bronze is redder and brass is yellower when new. Tin is much more expensive than zinc (being rarer) and is much less prone to pitting - thus bronze tends to have a smoother finish than brass. I've had furniture parts that I designed cast in both bronze and brass, and the bronze was much easier to plate. Left unfinished, they can both turn greenish when patinated, but bronze can also turn black.
