Roasting green chiles on the streets around New Mexico every August and September. We are conditioned, like Pavlov’s dogs: we New Mexicans smell them roasting and we immediately start salivating. Ahhhhhh!

This is Skunkinator who was an intact male skunk raised as a house pet, but his person wanted him to be rehabbed and returned to the wild, so she sent him to me back when I Iived on the bayou and rehabbed wildlife.

He had a little house and he stayed around for awhile and gradually moved on. Sweet fellow. His person came to see him a couple weeks later and he let her pick him up and cuddle him. I never touched him, but brought his food. Here he is coming out to eat.

BTW, I do know the 'scent' of those corpse plants - I had a smaller type in a pot once upon a time - it stayed outside and flies loved it 😄

I was on a Q train late in the afternoon when a woman and two young children got on at Canal Street. They brough fresh durian with them. The car emptied at the next station. That is soooo vile.
