Checking In-Anyone Still Around?
Hi everyone,
Been quite a while, but I thought I'd check in and see how everyone was doing.
Still living here in the Denver area (Westminster-lived in Arvada for about a year and when that wasn't working anymore, I moved over here into another roomie situation).
Worked a few jobs since. Some were seasonal (best one was at a local nursery called Echter's-family owned and operated-I was a cashier, but still a lovely place). Now working for a grocery store chain (Safeway). Been there for over a year (almost a year and a half).
Best of all, I met someone quite special a couple years ago, and now, well, he's my boyfriend :). We became official two days after my 35th birthday back in March. He has to eat gluten-free, but we both like Asian foods, and we found a nice pizza place that has GF pizza (and is super delish-reminds me of a pizza place in my hometown). We're looking at places to live together, and when we find one, it'll be one more year here in CO, then off back east to find somewhere cheaper and greener/more precipitation (he's originally from Kentucky and went to college in Iowa).
Still cooking up a storm when I can. Work keeps me pretty busy these days. Gardening when I can, too. Mostly house plants, but I dream of having that big garden paradise I've always dreamed of, along with a pretty house and a big kitchen.

checking in--do you still like your AS Cadet 3?
Comments (12)I installed a AS Cadet 3" about 6 months ago and posted my results somewhere on this site. In summary - I had to go back to HD a few times to get a bowl that wasn't defective (wasn't flat on the bottom or wasn't fully glazed). I have had the toilet installed for about 6 months and have put it through some severe "stress" tests and admit that it has never clogged. Relative to the previous toilet that was installed - I'm impressed. Very strong and efficient flush. Not extra ordinarily noisey. I was impressed enough with the toilet that I replaced the other two in my house with the same AS Cadet 3. So far, I'm very impressed with the toilet. I am still a little concerned about overall quality of the unit based on the initial quality problems I had finding one that wasn't defective. I'm wondering if the unit is going to start developing leaks or parts failing. Only more time will tell. I was initially going to use Toto Drake until the only local dealer quoted me a very high price and long delivery time. At the time the new report came out on toilets that showed the Cadet 3 performing very well relative to the Toto's (you can find it on the internet if you do some searching). Luvs...hope you found your wood, don't you just hate it when you want to start a project and either can't find the right color of paint or the right wood? Bebe...What a precious time you are sharing with you GD. And what a help to her mom and dad. Punk....so did you ride along with her? Hope the fair went well! Sorry about your trunk, isn't life funny! Anj....Happy Birthday! Our schools are starting back up and the kids are so excited. The bus stop is near us and they are playing around, having a great time. Hope your days calm down! As to my DM., she is healing nicely and has moved to my DS home. She seems to be settling in nicely. While I was gone just one day, she had a 3 page list of things I needed to save for her. It took the biggest U-Haul truck they make to move her "personal" belongings and that's not counting any furniture other than her bedroom suite. As to what she left behind....it came down to 4 of us working 12 to 14 hours per day just sifting boxes and boxes of stuff, we didn't finish one floor. We showed 5 auctioneers everything before we found one who would do anything. He is doing 2 auctions this fall and one in the spring. Anyway, we go back Tuesday to finalize everything. Punk, it would have been fun had we lived closer and had more time. We all are in wonder that she hid it from all of us, and amazed at the amount of money she has spent in just the last 3 years. Comments (5)The walls are each side of the house that is bi level, to hold the upper dirt in place. They have two tractors with scoops and a track hoe working. They are working away on it now and I have been baking this morning. The apple pie is done and the sweet potatoes are in the oven. I have the potatoes peeled for the mashed ones and will fry some boneless chicken breasts for supper and roll out the yeast roll dough too. I have been making up ice in the counter top ice maker as the refrigerator ice maker can't keep up when I make iced tea. Cheryl had to go with Amber to take Harley to the vet to see about his pills. Oh, I forgot to show y'all last year's creation. I didn't wear this one for work, but she was fun :). Does she look familiar? Didn't have to spend much on this one. I had mostly everything save for the glasses.
This is what I wore for work (I actually worked the day before Halloween, but they still allowed me to dress up). I didn't physically make the dress, but I did style the wig and applied my own makeup (a little faded here).
Unsure of what this year's will be. But hopefully something fun and amazing.
Annie, glad you still make my Gram Bertha's lemonade. I haven't made it in a while, but the last batch I made was quite good. I think I did my variation and put an orange into it as well.

Last night's unexpected (wasn't planning on canning anything until I saw cherries were on sale at work) culinary project. I LOVE canning. Have some jam with your toast, muffins, biscuits, or cheesecake, whatever strikes your fancy. ;)
