Still Busy Around Here

We are still busy around here with the men in the family building the wall to the east of our home. They did get the big one west of the house finished. Today they have to buy another load of gravel and then go purchase another skid of retaining wall blocks. It is such hard work as each block weighs about 60 pounds each. Yesterday Cheryl and I visited with my Mother in the nursing home. She is 97 years old. We told her about Amber expecting a baby in March. Cheryl and I then had lunch at Jim Dandy, her treat. It was really good. I drank so many glasses of iced tea and took one to go. Then I had a visit with my doctor for a check up, everything is looking good. Then it was time to start thinking about fixing supper for the 7 of us. Norm and Kevin worked until after 9:00! So today I have to figure out what I will be fixing for everyone to eat again. I do enjoy it though. It is great weather here and the farmers are busy getting the corn and soy beans out of the fields. What have all of you been doing to keep you busy?

Morning Sue,

You sound extra busy in your kitchen these days.

Since I'm a city girl, I'm trying to picture these walls. Are they considered like a fence around your home/land?

I hope to finally get my hair cut today. Also need to go to the Post Office and grocery store.

Gonna be another hot day here...where is that Autumn weather anyway?

I know how excited you are about the new grandbaby. I am so thrilled for all of you. Start watching the red tag clearance fabric for those baby prints for the blankets and all. So much fun ahead.....

Many people this year have reported their best hummer year ever and I am included in that group. There are reports on the hummer forum on network 54 of people in northern ohio still having at least 10 hummers daily. Normally I leave one feeder up untill thanksgiving in case of a late straggler. I am still having 4-5 daily which includes today.

Carolyn doesn't come to this board much any more, but she occasionally pops in on the main Tomato board. She posts at various other sites and is still growing tomatoes and still sending out seeds. Yeah, she has had issues and gets around with the help of a walker and can't do a lot of things she used to do, but she's still the same Carolyn. :-) She would probably blush if she heard us say that she's a national treasure.

The walls are each side of the house that is bi level, to hold the upper dirt in place. They have two tractors with scoops and a track hoe working. They are working away on it now and I have been baking this morning. The apple pie is done and the sweet potatoes are in the oven. I have the potatoes peeled for the mashed ones and will fry some boneless chicken breasts for supper and roll out the yeast roll dough too. I have been making up ice in the counter top ice maker as the refrigerator ice maker can't keep up when I make iced tea. Cheryl had to go with Amber to take Harley to the vet to see about his pills. Yes, it will be busy around here for some days to come as long as the weather permits.

I assume your Ice Tea is decaf? If not, could be a caffine overload..Too cold here to work outside for me.
