Simple pasta dish with a lemon butter sauce?

What kind of crab?

More than any other crustaceans, I find that crab, at least Dungeness, gets a good boost from butter. Little mushy pieces work well in a crab spread with subtle, very subtle, other ingredients. Larger cold pieces go well with mild, sweet and wet, like pale grapes.

Oh, how I miss Dungeness crab! It's rare that I see it (frozen) here in PA. When we were in Monterey we had detritus dinners, with artichokes and crab and garlic bread, Real Hellman's mayo thinned with lemon juice. Enjoy!

Decided on a crab/corn/shrimp chowder. It was quite a bit of work! Will make a small salad, warm up what has been made and add the crab at the end! Smells yummy!

Hubby deemed it restaurant Quality! NOT diet food! Will have a small lunch tomorrow and freeze the rest for later! SUCCESS!

Our whales that are moving through the crab fishing areas are gray whales, not your humpbacks... If entanglements are taking place I'm not hearing about them, not hearing of the fishermen complaining about missing gear and with many hours spent on our WA coastal waters I've never seen it. Of course I don't want our whales injured, but our commercial season will continue to run for the next several weeks. It slows down, as do the profits and many of the boats will change to shrimp gear. But last year in August I was able to find live fresh crab to take to a family reunion. (DH swears he can tell from the mouth feel before he's even tasted if its been frozen so i don't buy it frozen or freeze it myself).

As for hot dishes of crab I'm really of no help. We mostly eat crab as crab and I don't include it in many cooked dishes. Lots of salads, on crackers or toast points, sometimes crab chowder.😊 Do you ever add a few cubes of cream cheese at the end of cooking chowder to melt into the broth? It really adds to the texture and flavor of the soup since i put no potatoes in mine.

I love "potted". Usually in Britain, it's potted shrimps. The really small brown boiled ones that take half a lifetime to peel but are so tasty and sweet. Melt some butter and pour the clarified butter into a jug. Add seasoning and lots of grated nutmeg. Poor over the shrimps and chill. Serve on hot toast triangles. You can do this with crab too. Delicious as a tasty treat.
