I haven't yet, but my (adult) son has and says it's very powerful and excellently acted.

Hubby watched it and liked it. I was in the room for the first episode, but not following closely. I understand each episode was shot as a single take, which might not appeal to everyone. I've seen a number of articles reviewing it and discussing its topic. It has 8.3 stars on IMDB.com, which is exceptional.

I have put off watching it even though it calls to me.

I have a 13 year old grandson that I am concerned about. He has a lot of anger issues and has been emotionally hurt. I think that the premise of the story is just too frightening to watch.

Young males have a hard time growing up.

I fear for my grandson. He thinks deeply about life and those are often the ones who's problems run deep.

His older brother has already taken the leap out of the nest. He had to leave as a matter of self preservation.

I was watching and will get back to it soon. But I got sidetracked by The Residence also on Netflix. That was a very funny show. Uzo Aduba is a treat to watch. It's 8 episodes.

jehanne hansen, I certainly can understand why you hesitate to see it. It would be frightening for someone with a troubled young adult that they care about.

Thanks for the recommendation. I hadn't heard of it, but started watching it tonight. I watched two and a half episodes and found it riveting. The kid is an excellent actor, and I'm just glad I have no teenagers in my family in these difficult times.

I just saw the first episode last night. It will be a few days before I can see another (time constraints) but I look forward to it. I think it will be difficult to watch.

It was a tragic story. Dedtired, I understand how you feel. Jehanne, you are wise to consider skipping this movie.

It is meant to be about toxic masculinity but given the way women (and indeed, the victim) are portrayed (invisible, simpering, ineffective and stereotypically and offensively racist)...I consider it is toxic masculinity in action...and having worked in social work and safeguarding, there are many problematic issues about this programme.

On a technical side,, I recognise good camera work and acting but I would be deeply unhappy if my 13 year old grand-daughter was watching this in school with the current level of (one-sided) debate.

Wow, that's a very different take than I had. The victim was hardly 'simpering' or 'ineffective': she was portrayed as a real bully. Are you talking about the psychologist? I thought her emotional reaction at the end was totally in keeping with what she had experienced and observed about the boy. Or perhaps the boy's mother? Granted she was less of a fully fleshed-out character than the father. And I'm baffled by the racist comment: what did I miss?

"Toxic Masculinity" is not a REAL thing. It was made up to give women an excuse to play the victim. UGGGG There are many unhealthy forces in our childrens' worlds today. It's always good for parents to be reminded to stay vigilant raising children.
