Comments (38)1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Both but definitely more gift bags each year. 2. Real tree or Artificial? Artificial for years. Real for about 10 years with DH, but I convinced him to get a prelit artificial one a couple of years ago after yet another bout of bronchitis (I swear it's an allergy to the real trees!) 3. When do you put your tree up? Usually Thanksgiving weekend. 4. When do you take the tree down? The first weekend in January. The Snow Village comes down in February after the Super Bowl. 5. Do you like eggnog? ahhhhhhhhhh that would be No! 6. Favorite gift received as a child? A plastic pretend hat box filled with plastic pretend makeup. It was definitely picked out by my mom. 7 Hardest person to buy for? DH...he buys for himself all year round. 8. Easiest person to buy for? Me!!! 9. Do you have a nativity scene? Yes, it goes up first every year. Mail or email Christmas cards? I donate to a charity in honor of friends/family now instead of sending cards. This year, however, I'm making an exception for by Support Sistahs! Worst Christmas gift you ever received? My mother-in-law bought me a trashy leopard nighty with fake fur across the top. I am not kidding...did not know what to think, as DH and I were only engaged and I was well into my 40's! LOL!!!! Favorite Christmas Movie? It's a Wonderful Life...I was named for Donna Reed. When do you start shopping for Christmas? Normally I'm finished before Thanksgiving. This year I have not purchased one thing and I'm not at all concerned. I'm in a great mood tho, so maybe I'll panic in a week or two! Have you ever regifted a Christmas present? Only for an annual, funny white elephant exchange I have with a professional group of friends...we are supposed to bring a gift we got but don't want. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? years ago? My mom's lasagna...the best I ever had. Nowadays, I really like spiral ham. Lights on the tree? Absolutely! Favorite Christmas song? Mariah's "Jesus, what a wonderful child"....followed by O Holy Night. Travel at Christmas or stay home? I love staying home. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer? Yes Angel on the tree top or a star? Beautiful Angel Open presents on Christmas Eve or morning? Christmas morning, after DH's daughters come over. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? Political Correctness....it's CHRISTmas time. Get over it! Favorite Ornament theme or color? Don't have a special one, but I have lots of ornaments from our vacations and from my support friends. Favorite thing for Christmas dinner? see #15 What do you want for Christmas this year? I don't need anything besides good health!...I'm really blessed throughout the year. Thanks Patti!...See MorePet food recall--- Are all these foods actually the same?
Comments (38)I used Iams for over 17 years - then the dogs didn't seem to do so well on it any more. So 1.5 years ago I switched to Nutro dry kibble. In the month or so before the wet food recall, I noticed my dog's coats weren't as nice, they vomited on/off yellow frothy stuff, and they avoided eating it until the last moment before we went to bed. Sometimes I had to encourage them with people food on it. These are dogs that are 12, have always willingly ate dry kibble, live indoors with us, and never over eat. The vet and I attributed it to hunting dogs doing what they like to do on our long daily walks (we live in the middle of nowhere, where there are many tasty temptations on the trails). Then around the first part of March, one of mine had violent seizures for the first time in her life at age 12. There is a family history; her brother has mild seizures 2-3 times year. so mild we don't medicate for them; and I know they can spring up at any age, so truly that is the most likely answer. However, that day I stopped feeding the Nutro, and began home cooking cold turkey. That strange vomiting with both dogs ended that day (despite the fact I thought switching to such a rich home cooked diet would cause some upset). Coats sleeked back up in short order. Please knock on wood for us, but no seizures yet (I still am reluctant to connect that to the food, because of the dog family history, but need to put it out there because I do think there is something less than fatal in this food that was at the least causing the vomiting/tummy upsets. My girl had a cluster of 6 in less than 24 hours, and it took days before she was "normal", ie pacing for hours, some vision issues, couldn't sleep, wobbly legs, etc.) It was a nightmare. Then I heard about the wet food recall. I thought I was a food snob. I did ask questions, but 1) how can I know if I am not told truthful answers re QC and ingredient issues, and 2) frankly, accidents like a bad batch of X can happen - to both pet and human grade food. I don't know what to think now, except that if commercial wet food has issues with rat poison, plastics poison, god-knows-what-else is still in it that is causing problems less than death in it, too much Vitamin D (the Royal Canin lawsuit, which btw, I had tried the cat food years ago and it was simply awesome at the time, but still, they screwed up)... well, I can guarantee that as a home cooker, I can be more careful than that. I am just lucky that I can make the time to home cook - what a burden that would be in other circumstances for a lot of people. The cat would be harder to do a good home job with; so I am trying Felidae dry kibble. P.S. The store and Nutro were very stand up about taking our returned sacks of dry kibble for full credit....See More24" Counter-Depth fridge/freezer (78 7/8" x 23 1/2" x 23 7/8")
Comments (8)There's a regular sized Fischer and Paykel fridge that is counter depth and affordable: the Active Smart. I have it in my very small kitchen and love it. I saved space with an 18" Bosch dishwasher which I also love! I just use it a bit more frequently than a full sized one. I researched fridges for quite a while. I didn't want to pay Subzero prices and was concerned about negative reviews for some of the other narrow width fridges. Plus I was concerned that creating a narrow area for the fridge might be a problem if such fridges ever were difficult to find. You could find photos of my small kitchen with these appliances if you do a search here for a thread that has 1923 kitchen with Breakfast Nook in the title....See More2022 Spring Fling! Comments (29)Hi Everyone. Will this SF be another 2017?! So....Tom and I will purchase the meat this week, get it thawed and smoked for Saturday. All of that should be great. About the tomatoes.... The Jet Setters and Heidis are not the best. I suspect I got a bag of "bad" potting mix. However, they are growing. I will bring them...and if anyone wants to give them a chance, please do. I am going to plant some of them still. Rick bought Jet Stars to replace my Jet Setters for the SG. BUT, I'm still going to plant them somewhere else. I have a couple of places in mind. I have high hopes for them. I think once they get planted, they'll be fine. I have 2 roselle plants for Lisa that are still doing great. The Dawn pepper didn't germinate....so nothing there. I'll repeat this at the other place....See More- last yearlast modified: last year
