very unusual. A brother-sister duo showed up 4:30 from ascross the street. And then NO ONE until 7:55 when 3 girls showed up followed by 4 Jr High friends also from across the street. Its been many years since there were so few. I expected 20--bought enough treats for 40.... The weather was the best I can ever remember temps in the 60's with no rain or wind.

I never get trick or treaters as our houses are about an acre apart, too, and most are down long gravel driveways. Dark, no streetlights, etc. My grandson usually comes so I can see his costume, his dad drives him out. But he's almost 15 this year and he was also sick this week. Makes me a little sad, but it's inevitable. I did buy a small bag of Hershey's kisses, just in case, but I can put one of those in his school lunch every time I make one, so they won't go to waste.

When we moved to our neighborhood, we were warned by neighbors that 400+ will come by, and you basically can't shut your door all evening, so neighbors set up tables outside, sometimes offering certain beverages to the adults only, or had mini-haunted-houses in their yard and sometimes in their houses.... it got really crazy, with actual buses arriving from who knows where, in those years... Nowadays we only get about 5-6 groups, even though our houses are only about half an acre apart.

We’ve never had more than ten trick or treaters in the twenty-three years we have lived here. My husband always says to stock up with goodies, just in case. 😉

Crazy dead. Can’t attribute it to the weather, which is unusually warm, and dry. Had maybe four groups.

Our neighborhood has a parade for the kids on the weekend of or before, It’s usually huge, but none of us were home this past Saturday so we don’t know how that went. Actual Halloween is more the older kids; this tends to be a destination/drop off neighborhood, so I don’t know what happened that made it so quiet.

We had about 30 kids. Other years we've had fewer, but DH put up a lot of decorations and lights, so that seemed to draw in more kids. Our street has no lights and no sidewalks, so it does not encourage trick or treaters.

I'm so glad the candy is all gone because I cannot keep my fingers out of it.

I had an appt an hour away at 9:30 AM so we were up and moving early, got there on time, ran three more errands, scurried back here as we've been dog sitting for the neighbor recent afternoons. Sitting here at our house, DH walks down and gets him.

Storming, raining hard and blowing too so I didn't have high hopes it would be an entertaining evening for DH - who loves Halloween. We never have many on this dead end street, and the block leading to it is tall evergreens, a little dark, no homes there.

With every light in the house on, candy for about 50, we had 10 children. Very cute enjoyable children but just the 10. DH was giving them all double candy and telling them to share with their Mom or Dad. Our last trick or treater was here at 9 PM! DH asked him how old and he proudly said FOUR! Nice dad with him but what was that man thinking to have one so little out in the rain - and that late.

I close up the house and leave as I have for 40 years. No one comes so it's a waste to buy candy because I don't want to eat it. I did all that back in my suburban life with kids. In this town they stay in the newer section at the other end. So I always go to the next town and my daughter and I mingle in the streets of her town. Most people are outside with a table full of treats. It was crazy HOT...the hottest Halloween in history going back to 1880 at 84 degrees, so the kids could wear their costumes without coats. I am amazed at the displays and one in particular could be on a TV show. Guys who live there are so creative and spend a month putting the displays up and they are truly wonderful and terrifying and they hype it up every year. I am sure their neighbors aren't thrilled but it was awesome. Slowly they disassemble and start incorporating some items in their creative Xmas display.

We also got the most consecutive days with no rain going back to 1880. We last had rain in September and it's now November. I feel like we are turning into California's bad luck with droughts.

DH wnet to the door four times. That's an all time low I think. We got 4 inches of WET snow from 3AM-about noon. It was all melted by TT time but I wonder if people just didn't go as far this year. We are all on 2acre lots so it's a haul for our kids for sure.

It was really quiet here too. Probably didn't help that I absent-mindedly turned off my porch light. Oops. But our houses are close together, biggest lot is a quarter acre, and it was very quiet out there.

The weather was perfect in the upper 70’s in my NYC suburb. But here too a bust because a few blocks over, neighbors held a large block party that incorporated three streets.

I usually get about three or fourth very large groups that come to the door. I am glad I only bought one bag cabdyvas I have half left over.

Weather here is much cooler than normal with temperatures in the 70s during the day, but we had zero trick or treaters. Kevin had bought candy just in case, and I think it will take a very long time for us to eat it - I'm not supposed to be eating sugar and should be on a low carb diet.

Lots here are around 0.16 acres, which is slightly larger than what we had in L.A., where we would get at least a dozen visitors at Halloween, even though none of them lived on our street. I've not seen children on this street either, although there might be some. I don't know the demographics of this neighborhood, but there are lots of retired people plus week-end or vacation houses that are usually empty, except during the winter.

In years past we had a trunk Or' treat. Everyone would dress up & drive to the lodge parking lot, then open the SUV hatch or trunk filled with candy. And...decorate the openings with garlands of autumn leaves.....not this year.

0 kids, 1 deer, 1 possum, 3 raccoons and a partridge in a pear tree.

I think I had a hundred million kids. Slight exaggeration but I had three hundred pieces of candy and I have only one mini Milky Way left. I could easily have given out another 50 pieces. Halloween is a big deal here. People decorate and many adults wear costumes, too. Most of the kids had adorable costumes and were extremely polite.

We had a block party before the hordes arrived, which was fun.

Our street of house on less than a half acre is very popular since we are surrounded by huge homes on several acres.

The unseasonably warm weather made the evening extra fun.

For the first time in years, I did not participate in Trick or Treat in town last night. I drive to the church parking lot and join others in Trunk or Treat there, same night as the town's t/t. Number one - candy was so expensive, 20 pieces for $5. Very small bags of other stuff for $5, $10. I couldn't see spending the money on candy as my checking account was in the low digits, today being payday. ha Plus the weather was not ideal. The wind was awful all day and the skies threatened rain. By 4pm, the start of t/t, it was not pleasant out there. I felt sorry for the kids. Usually there are hundreds, curious to talk to someone about how many braved it.

And I wonder how many decorations blew away to Kansas. My little twig tree with lights on the front porch kept getting blown over until I finally managed to secure it. This morning I brought all the decor inside. Left the real pumpkins on the porch, tho.

DH went to buy the treats: 18 snack bags of chips, and 18 ”fun size” snickers bars. Discussion ensued as to how many ”fun size” bars to give each kid. Correct answer: more than one. I pulled out last year’s talley, when it was 32° and snowing, and we had 23 trick or treaters. This year was 50°, dry, but windy, so I figured on at least 50, and went to buy more: 3 bags of kit kats and 48 chips.

We ended up with 57 kids, and still have a few kit kats, and about 15 chips. A few years ago I realized that the kids love the chips. But before, we got a lot of middle school boys who liked the nacho cheese doritos, and this year it was more girls and little kids who wanted the potato chips and cool ranch.

The funny thing is, we had virtually no one from nearly 6 till 7:30. And one doorbell ring had three groups totalling 17.

So, this year was neither here nor there, but at least we didn’t run out of treats.

Last year, Halloween was perfect. No rain or wind and the temperature was nice. We did not have one trick or treater. The year before we only had one set of two. This year, I just left the light off.

There are so many Trunk or Treats and parties, it is much easier to go there and not near as much walking for the parents. The schools, churches, police, YMCA, etc., all do something. Either the day of or the weekend before.

It was very slow in my little suburb...usually give out 100+ pieces of candy, this year only about 35.

It was cold, but still...no idea why.

Absolutely perfect day for Halloween with a high of 84 - except for the kids wearing faux fur animal costumes. Went to the school parades for both grand daughters in the morning and the kids were all excited.

Spent the evening at my son's home which is in a neighborhood full of families with kids. As others reported we didn't have as many Trick or Treaters as in previous years and it was a little disappointing. As dedtired mentioned - the kids were all polite, thanking us for the candy and wishing us a Happy Halloween. But I did notice that they seemed a little less enthusiastic than normal and I attribute it to the lower number of kids on the street.

In their neighborhood families place tables near the bottom of the driveway and sit nearby so that the kids could help themselves. It's a very social neighborhood with many parents walking with their kids and greeting the neighbors. Quite a few neighbors congregate and spend the evening snacking and enjoying beverages.

Very scary Halloween-y weather here. Damp and windy with dark, scudding clouds. Temperature dropping to the fifties. We don't turn on our front lights after getting zero kids for years. I still had some Toblerone bars 'just in case'.

I miss seeing the kids -- and the feeling of neighborliness. However, having had a tooth extracted Tuesday, maybe just as well to avoid the fuss.

We had 208. A nice crowd and we ran out of candy. DH was disgusted because 1) we ran out and 2) I didn’t buy his favorite kinds. To be sure, he’s in charge of buying the candy next year!

By far our best visitor was a man we have known since he was born, accompanying some of his young grandkids around. He was dressed like his father, right down to his hairstyle and the name embroidered on the pocket of his shirt. His dad died several years ago. The likeness was take-your-breath-away startling. A true Halloween scare. He was getting a big kick out of it.

We had about 30 kids. Most were toddlers or teenagers -- not much in between. I don't remember trick or treating when I was a teen. After about the age of 12, we looked at is as too baby-ish. I live in a big building and there is always a nice Halloween party in the lobby with lots of decorations and pizza, from 6 to 7. Then from 7 to 9, the trick or treaters come around. By 9, I was happy to stop answering the door and the cats were happy to get out of their costumes.

Only my second year in this location As I expected, there were no T-or-T'ers.

We had a light drizzly rain that started about the time trick or treating started. I had about 50 or 60 kids. After not having any kids for nearly an hour, when some finally did show up, I told them to take more than the one or two peices they picked out. I bought one big 275 peice bag and have about half of it left. Good thing I bought it with some things I like. I did eat a Hershey miniature last night and it tasted horrible. When I first opened it, ate a Rollo, yuck. I used to like them as a kid but they weren't good. Will keep a few of the Whoppers and Milk Duds and give the rest to my daughter next time she comes over so she can take them to work.

Weather was great here…until around 6 pm when the rain started. First rain in over a month and we tied a record from 1924 i believe for the driest October. I thought our neighbor & their daughter would bring her grandson but they didn’t show. Some of them have been sick so i expect that plus the rain kept them home. I’ll keep his bag of Goldfish for another time.

We had 6 kids, period. DH is happy with all the Snickers left.

Halloween has been dwindling here for some time. Too many trunk or treats. This was the first year we kept the light off. I'm battling the flu and DH has back issues so getting up and down isn't for him. I looked outside a few times and saw zero activity.

We had 35 ish kids and I wasn't even on duty to see them last night. Dear son and dear nephew took over. DH and I dressed up and went dancing at a local pub that has live music. DN and DS had a blast with all the costumed kids so good fun all around. This might become a new tradition!

Hope you feel better Wildchild. Had two cancel out of game night last night due to illnesses.

Thank you to those who wished me well. I'm upright and breathing so hopefully back to the barn tomorrow. No flu shots in my lifetime but pneumonia vaccines and other essentials are up to date.

My neighbor counted - 158 trick or treaters came to his door.

I think kids are attracted to certain blocks in the neighborhood because of the fabulous decorations, mine is one of them (the block, not the decorations).
