I haven't had Covid yet and I am also hoping to dodge it for another year! I got my shot too.

Make toast and forget it, and it's cold and tough. I am teaching myself to stay in the kitchen when I am doing anything.

I just got over having covid, and I was very sick for almost a month. I had never had it before, and many say it's cause it's the first time I have had it. Still dealing with left over sinus problems, and lab tests showed my kidneys were affected, now trying to get that back on track. I am back to washing hands a lot, wiping down steering wheel, door knobs, purse handles. I wonder how long I keep that up? My adult daughter, husb, and two kids got it 2 days after me, but only had a cold and some cough. They were all well in a couple of days. Age is everything.

I had decided not to substitute teach this year, before I got covid. Sticking with that. Once you are not teaching full time, you gradually lose your teacher immunity. However I dont know where I got covid, I use my standby excuse of grocery cart for everything. Also after the school shootings already, and my school had a threat called in, I seconded my decision.

Our personal pharmacist and none of the SeaMar clinics have the latest version of Covid vaccine yet. We keep checking. All of our shots to date have been acquired at SeaMar Clinics and all have been Moderna. We'd like to stay with that one - for no good reason that I could explain to you. We'll likely get our flu shots same day. I'm undecided if I will have both same arm like last years, I did develop a warm rashy spot at injection site that lasted about two days. DH chose one shot each arm and he had no reactions.

Ladypat1, sorry you've been so sick. It's scary times for school kids and all the people who work at them. Kentucky has had multiple school threats this week.

Adding that my arm is still a little sore from the injections but no other side effects this time.

I got my first Shingrix vax yesterday - will wait a couple weeks to get the others. My arm is still sore and this is the first time I've had a red area on a shot.

Another No-vid here - and I work with schoolkids. I stay masked at all times around them and the young folks I work with too - they're always sick with something or other.

I just got an email from my doctor saying the flu vaccines are in but I think I'm going to the CVS and getting the covid and flu the same day. Doc doesn't do COVID shots. I'm still thinking about whether to get the RSV which they recommend for older people. I did last year.

When I was at Barnes and Noble tonight some jerk was coughing and walking around. I had to get up and go to the farthest corner to get away from him. I had covid once last October and it wasn't fun but not as bad as the flu.

I have not gotten my shots yet, but i do not take them at the same time. I know it’s too late to tell you this, Kath, but it isn’t usually advised. I wait at least 2 weeks between virus shots so they don’t fight each other and each has a chance to take hold. I’ll take the flu shot first. Getting the C shot is still iffy for me.

OutsidePlaying, it's common to have both given at the same time or other vaccinations at the same time. I can't even remember how many I got at the MEPS station when I first went into the Air Force.

Heavens, kathsgarden. The number one location for home fires is the kitchen and the number one reason is unattended cooking. One should never leave the kitchen with anything cooking on the cooktop at higher than a simmer level, and especially not hot oil.

I never get two immunizations at the same time. In the unlikely event I should have a reaction, I would want to know the cause.

Sometimes when a syringe event burns when going in, it's because the alcohol wiped on the skin to clean it has not dried.

For my first C immunization when they were first available some years back, I got Moderna's. I had a sore arm and felt lethargic for the next 24 hours or so. Subsequent ones I've steered clear of Moderna and gotten Pfizer's instead and have had no reactions at all.

I received the newest Pfizer on Mon 9/9/24. The injection burned a smidgen more than the others. Arm was slightly sore for a couple days and I had a very slight feeling of under-the-weather so took an ibuprophen the first evening. The whole thing was nothing of particular note.

I didn't get the flu vaccine yet, I wait a little longer on it so the effect lasts longer into the season.

Shingrex last year caused more discomfort than any of the COVID vaccines, particularly the 2nd dose of it.

I've not yet had COVID ... or if I did the symptoms were so mild that I wasn't aware.

I have had five/ six? Moderna vaccines and no reaction from any. But with the RSV one last year my arm hurt for a week.

With everything, I've had Covid twice. I don't plan to get any more Covid vaccines. I will get the flu shot in a few weeks. I like to take it in October.

I agree with Elmer. My doctor also thinks that space in between vaccines gives your body time to process. And as Elmer said this way you know what you have a reaction to.

We've scheduled our covid shots in 2 weeks followed by flu shots 2 weeks later.

We were a no-vid house until two weeks ago when I caught it. I was super tired for two days before I tested and found out what it was. I didn’t give it to DH or my Mom. It felt like a bad cold to me. My shots are not current, I never did flu shots prior to covid. I think my last booster was 2-3 years ago. My DH always worried he would bring it home from the office so he was surprised it was me who picked it up. My brother in NY caught it again and has a bad rash. I asked my sister to NOT send me pictures. LOL I am glad I caught after it had been weakened by the hordes of people. FYI - I tested positive until my lungs cleared, then I felt clear and tested negative. That took almost 2 weeks.

I guess I don't worry so much as long as both my doctor and the pharmacist okay both at the same time. I've only ever had one major (non-life-threatening) reaction to a vaccine, that was the second shingles vaccine. I had body aches and fever for a couple days.

I haven't had the flu since my daughter was a baby and we both got it at the same time. It was so bad I couldn't take care of her. I started getting the vaccines after that. I also haven't had covid even though I've had multiple exposures, two in my household and two others in a closed up basement office. I've been taking all the updated covid vaccines since they became available.

The reason for getting a Covid shot is the same as the reason for getting a flu shot. Each acts on its intended target the same way, and with what seem to be added benefits beyond partial illness immunity for the Covid shot.

You've had the flu sometime presumably, but you get flu shots. You've had Covid but don't intend to get future immunizations. If that makes sense to you, then great. It's a personal decision. Good luck.
