I like watching c-span because they don't have chyrons covering anything, don't interrupt, and often leave the cameras rolling long after news channels have cut away to gab.

We get streaming channels for free with our Samsung TV, and there are hundreds of Samsung channels. We even get a streaming CNN channel or two for free with Samsung.

We have a good antenna, but we don't get very many TV channels through the air in the Palm Springs area, compared to what we got in Los Angeles, although most of the channels in L.A. were in foreign languages, and especially ones that I do not speak, like Vietnamese, Armenian, Korean, etc.

I think you are the only person that I know of who watches NASCAR.

Aren't the major networks on "regular TV"? I'm sure they are all broadcasting the debate...ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox....

I agree, Elmer, but for sure we'll be watching! Kinda looking for some entertainment. The one guy will be glib and rude and an adolescent bully and the other one with have some blips but more intelligent responses and reactions.

Will "the other side" watch? I'm guessing no. They don't care about seeing him in any other light than with an aura around him. Will it change anyone's mind? Nope. But .... I'll watch.

The debate is being simulcast on ABC. Their commentary starting at 8:00 followed by the debate at 9:00. I have antenna tv also and was happy to see that a major network will carry it.

abc, nbc, fox, cbs, pbs… like I said it’ll be hard to miss on broadcast television.

I'd expect that most watching will be hoping their guy overperforms and the other does as poorly as they expect. Yes, inexplicably there are undecideds out there who don't find one candidate so bad that they already know who they'll hold their noses and vote for.

The debate may be widely broadcast but I won't be watching! One of the participants irritates me so much I cannot tolerate watching him speak, let alone debate!! I'd throw something at my TV.......... 🤣

Can’t imagine it wouldn’t be broadcast on all networks. Elmer’s likely right regarding it not changing much. My own view is November’s looking pretty bleak with the two choices we have.

Its on all the network channels and PBS . The Spanish language channels are carrying it, too.

Entertainment is broadcast for revenue. You’ve got till February (I assume) to figure out how you’ll watch NASCAR on NBC Sports next season. At least the whole season will be on the same channel.

I have not had to watch commercial TV in so many years that I almost forgot that it still exists. The same for radio. There is aboslutely nothing on a radio broadcast that I would want to listen to. I even quit with public radio. While I find it valuable as radio, I just find that I dont want to listen to chatter anymore and I am just worn thin with all the stupidty, outrage and ignorance of the wider world. I prefer silence to any of it, including public radio.

I also am disappointed with the streaming of our local public TV. I used to be a big fan of PBS and still do recognize that there is some good content on there. But enough with the Old House and the antiques and the British dramas. I recently suscribed hoping to find more of science and history that I really enjoy, but I am so disappointed. I was hoping for more.

And the local public stations seem to be so overtly politcally and socially posistioned that I find it limiting. I had hoped for better but it seems the same old, just peppered with new considerations.

I had hoped that it would offer a bastion of intellectual stimulation and learning, but I think I get more from YouTube Premium.

If it were me I would eliminate the cable . But hubs watches the news while he is in the kitchen. But he is not in the kitchen for very long. I dont watch the cable at all, only streaming.

We have an antenna on our two tvs, and streaming on one of them. The antenna lets us watch some international news programs (produced for America, mostly) and appreciate the global perspective. All of the local channels have at least three channels within them. I’m not sure what that is called. But it means that on the PBS station, while making dinner I can choose between Newshour, France 24, BBC America, Rick Steves, a cooking show, and an Asian news program, at the same time. and children’s programming.

FWIW, documentaries, history, arts and science programs are all available on the PBS streaming app - I pay a $5 monthly donation for access - and programs are all available to watch online @ pbs.org

yes, I have teh PBS Passport streaming. I am so dismayed with it. I find it awkward, not intutitive and the offerings are not applealing to me anymore. I wish I could say that I love it, but I dont. I so much wanted to love it. I had been a fan of PBS for decades, then just quit watching and thought that I would pick it up again. But I feel like I am watching in a time loop. Didnt I see all of this same, or very much the same, thing back last century? I think that PBS needs some new blood and a refreshing change of direction. It seems to have become for old folks who just want to see the same British dramas over and over. Enough!
