Set menu in restaurants.

Went out to lunch yesterday to an innovative new restaurant recommended to us by a younger person who raved about the food combinations. It was a ‘set menu’ type menu with 3 starters and two mains.
The food was shared between 3 of us.

The food was well cooked, great presentation and some things tasted really good but on the whole I was just overwhelmed by the amount of prominent ingredients. The last dish, the beef was dry and calling out for a red wine jus. and I would have loved it with a couple of small roast potatoes but that was not to be…just many many ingredients more than I’ve actually listed as there were herbs and spices as well. There wasn’t one dish that I would go back to the restaurant to have again. We do go often to a particular Italian restaurant just to have their Saltimbucca and another French restaurant to have their chocolate soufle. Maybe I’m just getting old and picky or mature and discerning as a friend suggested.
