Store where no purses are allowed....
Comments (41)If you accept having to lock up your bag then the next step would be no coats,no full sleeves,no baggy clothing,no wheelchairs,no strollers etc. Yep, then the Communists march in and take over! Sheesh. Who on earth suggested that you should be leaving your wallet/CCs/DL in the locker? Are they really permanently attached to the purse? Discriminatory against women? Oh come on! Sorry folks, there is no constitutional right to carry a purse in an antique shop. One thing that certainly would be helpful is people coming forward when they see shoplifting and following through instead of turning their heads and saying I don't want to get involved". I'm reminded of how Archie Bunker said he could stop hijackings. Just arm all your passengers. There wouldn't be any more air-superiorority there and they would be afraid to pull a weapon. All the airline has to do is hand out the pistols at the beginning of the trip and pick them up at the end. Case closed. My cousin's idea was cheaper and simpler. Everyone flies naked. Hard to hide weapons for most people anyway. Yes it would be nice for a store to have one employee or more per customer to keep an eye on them. I'm sure someone would protest that they're being watched. And are you ready to pay for it? I doubt it. I guess I don't know what's in those purses that happens to be so critical that you must have it on you everywhere. Even a beesting kit, insulin or something justifiable could be carried on the person. Now having someone have to check out twice like at Scam's Club is something to complain about. They can watch you come through the stupid checkout. They're not checking purses, totes, fannypacks, pockets, etc. That's one reason I won't shop there. With all the purse-snatchings and the like I'm surprised so many people insist on keeping every valuable item they own in them. A quick slice on the handle and run or a robbery - either way it's gone. Someone just the other day left their purse in their car in plain sight and it was stolen. It's truly sad that our society is this way, but good grief, it's not a surprise. People break into cars to steal GPS units, laptop computers, purses and more all the time. It's easy pickings. People have to start learning about crime prevention. Worried about people breaking into the lockers to get the purses? If all that's being carried is Kleenex and diapers, there's only one kind of thief I can think of who would be likely to go after it. "EVERYONE is a potential thief. Exactly. So to treat everyone the same is neither discriminatory nor unrealistic. The idea mentioned earlier about using the cameras isn't totally practical. Proactive crime prevention is far more effective than reactive crime solving. Plus there's those who argue that they shouldn't be on camera. Now the one that searches the bags BEFORE you go in is strange. Unless they're concerned about weapons? That one doesn't make sense to me. Now I will say it really annoys me going to the lumber yard and having to have your entire vehicle searched when leaving. That's a bit excessive. Sorry folks, can't fit 4x8 sheets of plywood in the trunk and close it! Not that I totally object to the "search" but more concerned about the extra time delay. Say what you want, any guy that has had the "hold my purse!" done to them would sure appreciate a locker. I finally told my one GF that if she's gonna be carrying horseshoes and a pony in that thing she can carry it herself! How can Kleenex, a wallet and car keys weigh 85#???...See MoreGoing into the Tote Business! Take my poll please!
Comments (43)So I would be a likely candidate for your bags as I have been looking for some to use and I'm willing to pay a little more if I could get a cute graphic or saying on them too. I've been looking to spend up to $15 as I expect it to be long lasting. Here's what I've been looking for: - Washable as in machine and dryer safe and keep their size - material isn't such a big deal, but I'd like them to look nice. - Be able to stand up to weekly use and if I pay more I'd like at least one year of use out of them, but would really like a couple of years. - Good handles that aren't too thick. I like to carry multiple bags at the same time when unloading the car. - Easy to fold and stay folded - Easy to pack as in staying open and not have the sides cave in when I'm packing groceries into it. - Can hold something heavy without ripping or weakening any seams - I'd like a bag that can fit the width of a cereal box and be able to support the weight and space of 2 gallons of milk. - I'd like it lined or thick enough to absorb some of the sweating that happens in the Texas heat and not soak through and also easily dry so I don't have to have space to hang it up. - Handles long enough that I could put one over my shoulder, but not so long that if I'm carrying it along with several others by my side it will drag the ground without me having to wrap the handles. This is a tough one. At this point I'm considering if I should try to sew my own as I haven't found what I'm looking for yet and then I can get the exact handle length that works for me, along with picking some fun fabrics....See MoreTravel purse recommendation needed
Comments (110)I just remembered that I said I would post comments about the Travelon Classic Mini Shoulder bag. I purchased it in black, but this photo in beige shows details better. I have not used it yet, but I think I'll switch over today. Vacay starts very soon. If it isn't going to work, now is the time to discover that. My observations so far are that it is heavier than the Longchamps Le Pliage (medium) that I carry everyday. I think most of the weight for the Travelon bag is in the cut resistant strap. The strap is rather stiff, but I suppose that is to be expected if it is cut resistant. I can't remember if this purse has a steel cable in the strap or if it were one of the others I was looking at. It is a very deep purse but doesn't have a side or bottom gusset. So, it is more like a knife edge pillow than a box edge pillow (hope that analogy makes sense). I read une femme d'un certain age, too. I love the Longchamp bag with the crossbody strap, but it is not something I'd carry often enough to justify the cost. Lars, love your bag. Wish I could get DH to carry one like it instead of loading all of his stuff into my purse!...See MoreTime for summer purse shopping?
Comments (109)Target does have some great stuff right now! I had never looked at their handbags before, mainly because I've never been into purses and only bought expensive ones that would last for years (I had a black Coach with the divets on the bottom which I happily carried around for a decade). But I'm in need of something to tote around town, and particularly now that farmer's markets are back up and running. I was in Target yesterday evening and spotted these two... nothing fancy, and right up my alley....See Moreeld6161
