Can I lighten paint by adding white?
Comments (3)I've found that mixing paint half and half will bring it up to approx. the next shade above the darker color you're using for the mix on the color strip. 75/25 might bring it up two shades....See MoreLightening paints by %'s
Comments (4)Someone on a thread in the paint forum, when I mentioned about this recently, said some colors can throw off odd tones when lightened. But I *LOVE* the effect of lightening for the off white I'm using on our walls... had it mixed at a quarter tint for the ceiling and will have it mixed at a half tint for the trim. The paint store guy doubled-checked the quarter tint or 1/4 tint terminology as "so minus 75%". Just be really clear about what you're asking for if you go this route. I would definitely try it and swatch test....See MoreWhat would SW Seasalt look like at 50% or 75%
Comments (11)I did Sea Salt at 50% in my old home. I wish I had a great photo for you. What I found was that the original color was far too dark and looked nothing like the photos I was seeing on Pinterest. At 50%, the color was just right, especially with white trim. I did have SW mix two samples, 50% and 75%. I still love Sea Salt so much. Eventually, I will paint another room in my new home in a 50% saturation again. Good Luck!...See MoreLightened Revere Pewter paint color by 50%
Comments (0)Hi, I see lot of people here mentioning that they can get a current paint made lighter from Home Depot by asking them to make it lighter by 50%, etc. But, my Home Depot guys were not familiar with how to do it. I would like to lighten Revere Pewter paint by 50% and would really appreciate it if someone who has done this before can share some instructions on how they were able to get that....See MorePaula
