Dislike insecticides, but.....
Comments (33)They sure do! I have to apologize that your question somehow get drown in midge discussion! It is just that you can control slugs and aphids with least toxic way than Bayer products. I honestly think that granular or liquid are equally bad, and they all have systemic effect to one level or another. And organics too. Nothing which can kill is harmless. Slugs will go away soon, so far soap spray probably will be your best solution. But this is your garden, anyway. And I think that if you have 10-15 roses overall harm is minimal. More then 100- you will poison to much stuff! And a lot of people here with large gardens are trying to go no spray / no pesticides partually for this reason....See MoreWhat Clems Do You Dislike?
Comments (39)It's so true that growing conditions make a huge difference. My climate is similar to buyorsell888 but a little warmer. We have many days over 80°, but few over 90°. Our nights remain cool. My tomato plants have been blooming for 3 weeks, but haven't set any fruit because that requires nighttime temps over 50° and we have only had one of those so far. I hard prune all my type II's after they finish blooming and get good rebloom later in the year....See MoreCottage plants that dont mind wet feet
Comments (11)I had the same issues, and had a landscaper come over for just an hour to give me advice. That was the best hour as he helped me design my front yard, which I in turn did myself, but he told me to dig a trench around the boggy area and start adding alot of grass and other mulch to it to built it up out of the mud. All the back yard water drains into it. This year I planted my veggie garden there. It was the only sunny place outside of the front yard, so all we had were tomatoes, jalapenos and bell peppers. This spring we will finally dig our ditches larger and add river rock. And I have piled leaves, grass, hay, and pulled weeds to that area. Will have to continue next year....See MoreI really dislike this site!!! Posting my rose pics.
Comments (15)The 4th rose you are talking about I believe you mean Geoff Hamilton? I believe it's an english rose. I bought it at Lowe's marked down and in terrible shape. I had no idea what it would look like except for the picture on it. I could not believe it bounced back the way it did, but near the end of summer it got blackspot and thrips loved the pink roses. I will have to wait and see how it does this summer, but I am going to spray before spring for blackspot in hopes I can prevent it....See MoreSheila z8a Rogue Valley OR
