Would you Order Chairs/Sofa in Matching Fabric?
Comments (24)judithn: You've really peeked our curiosity! It would really help to see this scrumptous rug you describe. From your description, it seems that you would like to rug to be your focal point of the room and the furniture should be a backdrop to that. Trends come and trends go, but ultimately you are the ones that live in your home and should choose what makes you comfortable and enjoy. I've noticed when I post a question on this board, I am hoping for a clear majority (and sometimes there is one), but more often I get two different opinions which seems to be happening here as well. That tells me that either option is fine and you need to cast the deciding vote!...See MoreSofa matching chair?? Need help
Comments (7)Sueb20, I'd love to see a picture of your room. I have been longing for a wild lime/acid yellow leather chair. My plan was to put it on a traditional style-- but I never found the right chair/leather color in the same line. I am relieved to see the responses to this thread as I am struggling with the same right now. I purchased two chairs on clearance (but neither was inexpensive--part of the problem here) and a custom leather sofa. I don't know what I was thinking at the time-- well, I do know. I had zero spare time but I had put off furniture shopping for soooo long. I let the store designer talk me into purchasing two chairs from the floor and then I ordered the sofa in the color I had been searching for-- an earthy/organic green-brown. Long story short--the chair and the sofa are two very different colors of brown. It looks like I tried to match them and didn't.. or worse, it looks like I shopped the clearance floor. Not the look I was shooting for. Some tell me they work well together-- others tell me they don't. The furniture store is willing to exchange both chairs (the scale of the other chair is just completely wrong--that one will be returned regardless). The problem is the leather chair has been discontinued so I can't get the same chair in the same leather as the sofa. I love the comfort of the chair but am struggling to make it work. I think maybe an upholstered chair would help take the focus away from the two that don't match. In the meantime, I am looking for another chair from the same manufacturer that is just as comfortable... or an additional chair that works with all. Anyhow.. your posts give me faith that I can make them all work together....See MoreYour thoughts on mix and match a leather chair and sofa...
Comments (8)I matched my two couches but then have several other pieces that are totally different. I never tried to match them because to me each piece has personality now. Plus in your case the salesman has told you up front the dye will be different enough that it will look like you've tried and failed. In your place, I would go for maybe a pattern with a little of your saddle brown in it...or maybe a totally different colored fun leather in say red?...blue? which would pull in those framed pictures on your wall. OR!!! maybe even "cow-hide"...something FUN!...after all it is a gameroom!!! My 2 dark brown couches and my 2 rockers with their light brown seats and "cow-hide" backs......See Morematching chairs, matching tables...do your lamps match too ?
Comments (12)For 20 years, nothing has matched. And since I liked estate sale vintage lamps, all my lamps were different too. But about 5 years ago, I bought two matching lamps from JCPenney. It was kind of nice having the two lamps in the bedroom match, while being on unmatched antique bed tables and unmatched vintage furniture. It's like the lamps linked everything together. About 3 years ago, I found two more nice looking lamps at HomeGoods, these two with deep red shades, so I moved them into the bedroom, placing one on a rattan table also from HomeGoods, and one on a vintage sewing machine base, turned into a night table. My rattan bed was bought new off the net, my dressers bought at different times from estate sales, one is painted black and one is pecan. My mahogany desk came from a classified ad, and the leather desk chair came from Sam's Club. The two JCPenney lamps moved into the living room where they are the only two matching entities in another sea of furniture that works well together, but does not match. and that's the way I decorate.... Red...See MoreAlyssa Bustamante
