Landscapers hacked down my roses
Comments (13)Again, I would like to thank all who contributed to this topic. I now have some stuff to think about going forward, some comfort and a lot of encourgagement and support. I think I can now make it through the winter without too much worry and concern. Maybe as some have said, there will be some benefit, in that, the overgrown bushes will have new growth that may be better to manage. These roses are special to me, even though I didn't plant them and maintain them from the start. I don't know how long they had been there but they were a big focal point and one of the things I immediately noticed when we first looked at the house to buy it. I immediately thought of my mother when I saw them and how much of a gardener she was. I had hopes that I would be able to have her over and she could help me tame the jungle around the yard. However, as fate would have it, she had an accident about the time that we closed on the house and never pulled through. In fact, she died the weekend that we moved in. As I walked out the door, on the day of her visitation the bush, similar to it's appearance in the above photo, Contained several beautiful red buds. I went back in the house got a scissors and cut them and took them to the funeralhome with me. The next morning, when we arrived before the funeral, I saw them arranged nicely in her hands. As a result, they will always have some special place in my heart as a reminder. We had some yews in the front yard also which were, kind of robbing half the garden of sunlight. After having those removed last summer because they were severely overgrown, there was another small rose that just wasn't doing anything. We almost didn't know it was there. One shoot that was really thin. It is now about 5 times the size and there are several shoots to the plant. The landscapers did cover that with leaves also. Then there is a third bush that wasn't doing much in the last 2 years but was more substantial. It has now doubled in size and got a lot more hardy. I am looking forward to how the three will look next spring....See MoreSomeone tried breaking into by checking account!
Comments (19)Julia, when I called to find out what was going on they never offered to check an IP address. I'll call them tomorrow to see if it is something they can do. I never did hear that story about the check shredding! Geez, how stupid can they be? You probably shouldn't mention the name on here, but I certainly hope it at least wasn't one of the major banks. I'm still up in the air about paypal. Not from this transacion, but other stuff I have heard. Your log on ID is your email address, which gets people half way there. My sis-in-law got her hotmail account taken from her by an identity thief. The thief hacked into a site she bought some cosmetics from. He was then able to block her out of it by changing her password & then went after her paypal account. She had an excellent credit card company tagged to it & instantly knew something was up & called her. She said the credit card company AND paypal knew what was going on before she did. A little safe haven, but if you have your checking account attached, not sure if they would be able to detect it as quickly. I know this situation is pretty unique & doesn't happen often but it sure makes reality set in. The key is having rock solid passwords that no one can figure out....See MoreAT&T Calling Card Rates
Comments (20)Goldsmom is right. I just tried to call my mom tonight and the same thing happened to me. I purchased a new ATT card from Walmart (900-minutes) this past March 2007 and when I made the call to my mom who lives in the same state as I live, all of sudden the number of minutes instantly dropped from 900 to 112 minutes. As the ATT representative explained to me all calling card users are now required to pay the same intrastate calling fees as customers with domestic phone service who have been paying these fees as part of their monthly phone service. So in other words, for each minute I use on my card, ATT would charge 8 times this amount for intrastate access. This equates to 23-cents a minute to make an instate call here in South Dakota, or almost a buck for every 4 minutes that I talk to my mom using the ATT calling card. This is probably true with other calling cards out there. Does anyone know if there are calling cards available for low "intrastate" calling? I searched the internet and can find phone cards as low as 1-cent a minute for long-distance state to state, but can't find any card that has low rates for making state to state calls. Please help, else I will have to cave in and buy some monthly calling plan which always costs me more in the long run, because I make so few calls a month to begin with....See MoreGreat Ikea hack for dresser/beside table/end table
Comments (32)For those who like this hack (namely me!), I have saved a similar one from JennaSueDesign.com. I could not believe that she hacked this chest and then sold it!! Since this is not instagram, you may be able to view the pictures/instructions easier, if you are interested. If you've never looked at Jenna Sue's blog - search for her master bedroom closet. She and her husband have flipped/reno'd several houses both for re-sale and rental. They had a house built, then doing a good bit of the interior extras themselves. This is the same one I shared once before who did the cabinet on the kitchen counter. fluted dresser...See Moresephia_wa
