Paint Design Dilemma Exterior

Exterior color help, please

Hi! I posted many years ago, looking for a paint color to replace the ugly yellow on our house.

Life got in the way and we never did get around to painting, but now we’re replacing the roof, siding, and porches and I need help! I’m trying to decide between a white farmhouse look and an olive green with (maybe) a darker trim. Any thoughts on what might be a better look?

Go for it. I think a green with wood and stone accents could make your place look beautiful.

Grab some giant cardboard sheets and paint them different green colors. Move the around the outside of the house during different times of day so you can see if this is a green you love.

Was your original siding color intended to mimic cedar? If so, I think it's a bit too saturated. If you don't want to replace with actual cedar, choose a color that's a bit more subdued. You might rather repaint the garage doors since replacing them will be expensive.

My first thought was painting it a cream color, but maybe taupe would be good as well. It’s the absence of contrast that throws me off I think. If your window frames are dark, then a light colored siding would be a nice contrast.

Not sure I got the color right but here's a few attempts with SW Deft (first) and SW Stardew (second). I use the Sherwin-Williams ColorSnap Visualizer on their website. Benjamin Moore has a visualizer too that I think is easier to use but they don't seem to have as many colors. Just google Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore color visualizer and you'll find them. I do it on my laptop but there might be an app too. I didn't fool with the trim although the shutters painted. You can really get a lot of detail and multiple colors if you do the setup right.

Drive atound and note combinations that you think would look great on the large side and in combination with accents. I once read on here on houzz to use no more than thrre colors.
