BB, you are not a moron, and we doubt Creative would suggest that. Just understand that there have been a LOT of dilemmas on this forum related to the problems that people have had with tile installations, especially showers. In most cases the homeowners did not have the trusted professionals on the project that you obviously have. And Creative is correct, the manufacturer and industry standards, as well as your trusted contractors, should be your guide regarding the tile selection appropriate for a steam shower. Make sure the tile is rated for this application.

That way-too-dressy, shiny and heavy shower curtain isn't doing you any favors. Quick fixes are to find a lighter shower curtain - I have one in my small guest bath that is a bit lacy with some see-through areas, and is quite airy and floaty-looking. I think I got it at BBB for not a lot of money. I have a clear vinyl liner on the inside, also inexpensive. Change out the shower curtain before you invest thousands in a renovation. Painting over the gloomy gray wall paint would be helpful, for a lighter color. Also, 5 weeks that you mentioned is not enough for the kind of renovation you are taking about. Isn't it annoying how one 'simple' decision can cause headaches down the road in something simple... Is there an option to contrast the shower door handle- white, black, clear acrylic. CRLawrence has an overwhelming number of options, surely something could look intentional. I'm surprised they haven't introduced that color yet since we seem to be back in the brass age.

Cle tile IS very porous. That's true, however, if it is recommeded for showers by the manufacturer AND installed correctly, following all manufacturer instructions, discoloration should not be a problem. The shower must be properly prepped underneath the tile as well. That said, all handmade tile should be installed by a very experienced tile installer for the best result. It is imperfect, and that is part of the allure for some, but it can be more difficult to install. I would not insist on a tile that your contractor is not comfortable with. I should also mention that our industry has had problems with quality and service from Cle. There are other Zellige tile makers but just make sure you have a contractor with the experience and confidence to install it correctly.
