You made me wonder so I emailed my builder. The front and friends porch door (walnut) were shipped with odd hinges and those were switched out to unlacquered brass (Deltana). The Kolbe doors still have random hinges. We have several that swing outward so those need special hinges. We may have to stick with the lacquered brass on those in the basement as there is some sort of anti theft mechanism. However, the hinge is actually on the outside of the door so not visible inside, and I expect they will weather pretty quickly out there. I'll let you know what he says. My builder has done this before (unlacquered brass is the rage in high end houses in Atlanta), so he should have some insight. I do know he never (or rarely) goes with the door manufacturer handles - he just gets them delivered handle ready. The same went for hinges on ours - random hinges to be switched later because they weren't in stock when the doors were installed. For our interior doors, they got the hinges we wanted (Baldwin unlacquered brass everywhere except master bath which will be polished nickel), and the door supplier is installing the hinges before delivery. The choice of unlacquered brass certainly complicates things! It is so pretty though - and I think I would do it again even with all the headaches.

In the Baths forum, I asked about replacing mine, and got these recommendations: Symmons, Wolverine, and Callifornia faucets. We decided to go ahead and get the one fixture up on the wall and are doing away with the three knob configuration. But, it was a lot more money to do this than just get new ones.

I'm going to look it up. :) Lav- I think you're on to something. It's very scary to pick hardware when you have stainless appliances. I keep questioning myself on that one. Mixing looks great, but it seems so hard to pull off! boxerpups- You always amaze me with your files. Besides all the gorgeous brass and marble, I love the open shelving in number two...and that kitchen with two sinks! What a dream it would be to have two people washing at once! Thanks! The Sequelo is more rustic. I finalized and ordered my tile today. I switched the floor planks to Seta in Silver because it's a much lighter look. It is in 6x24, but the store had a floor display laid out in herringbone and it looked great. http://www.besttile.com/Tile-Collection.aspx?pid=384&cid=19 I also switched back to shower walls of honed marble, but the shower floor in a ceramic tile in a grey to coordinate. I was more concerned over having a marble floor than marble shower walls, since there are only two walls (other walls are glass). It will be sealed before and after grouting. I'm using the Seta 12x24" plank for the 4' shower bench seat. Since I couldn't order a few tiles (had to order a box), I'm also using the Seta Silver in the laundry room. Everything's ordered. Sheetrock went up today and the hardwood floor material was just delivered to let it acclimate before install.
