UPDATE: Black Bootees, Found Great Ones!
I need a pair of black bootees for my early June trip and would like to hear your experiences with brands. My main focus is comfort, and I have no strong opinions regarding leather vs fabric except that I don’t want suede. No brand preference either. My foot is normal width and size 8.5 if that makes any difference. I’m looking for comfort over style although style would be a bonus since almost all my slacks are ankle length and most of the shoe will show.
I don’t want to spend more than $200 on this purchase. From what I’ve seen online I could probsbly get something very reasonable on sale right now.

I mentioned earlier that I bought two tone Naot bootees for an upcoming trip and was very pleased with them. I’m wearing them today to see just hpw comfortable they are for walking long distances and am happy to report that they are great! One of my feet is larger than the other (by a half size!) so I sized up to EU 40 in these and very glad I did. Even so I am having the top of the right one stretched out just a bit more at our local saddlery. It’s not strictly necessary but something I often do to customize my shoe for the discrepancy in length and volume. Here they are with what I’m wearing on a windy, cool spring day:
I like them so much I have already ordered them in brown and almond (these are black and gray).

Sometimes I too, feel myself wanting to question why my mom and sister had to die, and I have to tell myself that it is simply God's will. I know that can be hard to accept- it is a true test of faith. It sounded like you might have other siblings? If so, maybe talking to one of them could help? Sometimes, what really helps me is knowing that neither my mom nor my sister would want me to be so down and sad. Also, thinking about something funny that one of them once said or did, or thinking about something we once did together that was fun- these things help too. Comments (10)ERF - thx on the closet! hopefully it'll look even better when I get dressers and cabinets in here to put my clothes and linens in. So far I only have those shelves! oh boy, this guy is great! and rather cheap - thankfully! he's a young guy in early 20's. hard worker. raised in good home helping his dad build their house. has 4 yr old and one on the way so extra money is always needed. He booked on thru about half my list in 5 hrs yesterday. took away the stove and dw that were in here and put my 'new' ones in place. couldn't hook up the dw yet - needs some plumbing done. fixed 2 security doors, got the bird's nest out of my bathroom window, caulked the patio door. He even nicely cleaned up where the stove and dw were - and they were bad. I'll be able to clean better when they're pulled back out to replace the floor and do plumbing, but the worst of it is done. he moved the fridge in here out to the LR so I can clean that up before my fridge comes over. He measured all of the doorways in advance to check clearances - wow. he also brought my mw over here for me and set the clock on my stove. I think he even set the clock on the mw - cause I know I didn't. got the tubes out from under bathroom sink and kit sink so I can take to lowe's to get replacements. and more that he'll need. so last night I updated the list. crossed off things done and added more things - lol! he's such a good, hard worker. after some of the older 'professional' guys I had here to do stuff and did bad work, I'm so thrilled. today he's working at my sister's house. hers is outdoor work helping her dh move rocks. I'm gonna have him dig some holes around here for me to plant some trees in a few wks. we've had rain this wk so the ground is softer than usual. He'll think it's a breeze here because my land isn't rocky like my sister's. Her land is like solid rock - they had to blast to build. I'll put that ikea flip table on my list. won't get to that til next yr tho. i would like to get to our ikea store as they have mirrors i'd like for my bathrooms @ 15.00 each. what a deal. I need to ask this guy if he'll take down the mirrors in the bathrooms now 'cause I hate them. I'll probably have him help put down some of this flooring too. He has a friend (out of work) and thinks he will come help him move my stuff over here. I need the flooring down before the major stuff comes over. I let him take the 'spare' appliances (in very bad condition) to recycle for the metal. A couple of years ago they went to Budapest with friends and then caught up with their church group in Israel - 2 extremes in temperature. She had taken the Blondos for Hungary. She walked and walked for a week + in the Blondos with no problem. She took a pair of sandals for Israel. She said the sandals were so uncomfortable that she ended up wearing the Blondo boots instead.
I think this is the one she has. ETA: I checked that is the bootie Sister has. She ordered it 1/2 size large to allow room for socks. It is nubuck but waterproof…and she has put it to the test in the snow in Hungary. Plus it is her go-to shoe when it is raining. It did not ruin the nubuck.Full disclosure: I also bought a pair of Blondo booties - not the same style Sister had. I found them terribly uncomfortable. However, mine were bought at Nordstrom Rack and Sister and I both think they may have been seconds.

last monthlast modified: last monthMy favorites are the Aquatalia Reeta's but they meet none of your requirements - suede and over $200. But they are waterproof, look good and are very comfortable! I have heard good things about the Blondo's as well.

last monthlast modified: last monthUpdate— we are singing at a couple of Evensong services wearing robes and cottas, and since we’re taking those we are just going to wear the same for all performances. This simplifies things quite a bit; I am no longer married to black and white, although I am in no way opposed to it. Still need sturdy short boots and waterproof would be a bonus.
I’ve checked out all the suggestions and realized I like gray much better than black, and really love brown suede best. I have a pair already but —they too are suede and brown and not waterproof so still on the hunt.

A friend had on these waterproof boots from Vivaia at rehearsal tonight, she says they are comfortable and reasonable—-and i like them in gray:

Finally, I like the relaxed sort of wrinkled shape of this pair by Gentle Souls in a great color they call luggage in—you guessed it— suede. I like the zipper in the back.
Only the two fabric boots are waterproof.

19 days agolast modified: 19 days agoI just ordered a pair of the Gentle Souls boots in a light gray suede, great sale and I have a gray cable knit sweater dress they will go with. I have a few pair of shoes in that brand and they are very, very comfy and I’m hoping the boots will be too.
