Espresso Cabinets: What Countertops, Backsplash?
Comments (23)pugrolls - I'm not sure I would rule out quartzite (assuming you see something you like) because of the warning from your salesperson. Quartzite is harder than granite (which is why it can be harder to fabricate), so I'm sure it is at least as durable as granite. Quart counters are made from quartzite and resin I believe, so again, I can't see how quartzite would be much less durable. As for staining, I took a sample of my quartzite home before purchasing and did the usual tests for staining and etching, nothing. I've been using my counters for about six weeks, nothing yet, and we've left a few nasty things on the counter for longer than we should have. Others have commented here that Luce di Luna is pretty bullet-proof, as are some other quartzites. That said, I understand that there is quite a bit of variability in all natural stone. If you see something you love, take a sample home and test it yourself, and ask here if someone has personal experience with it. The sales person may not know quartzite that well, or they could be correct about that particular quartzite and not about others. Good luck in your search!...See MoreIs this backsplash too busy for super white quartzite countertop?
Comments (21)I have it and love it. We did do a project with the man made and I regret it. Nothing compares to the natural stone. The super white has enough movement that you won’t even notice an etch or a stain. We’ve had ours and used them for 7 months and have had no issues SINCE we resealed them. Note we did have issues when we first got them. Had the fabricator buff them out and then resealed. And we resealed again and since then have had no issues. I had decided that we’d use the counters and if there was etching or staining we spend a couple of hundred dollars every few years to buff them out, but we haven’t had any issues! Get what you love. You’ll regret it if you don’t. Excuse mess....See MoreHelp me pick countertops and backsplash
Comments (13)I think you are very wise to consider countertops and backsplash in common. So often here we see someone who has chosen a busy countertop and none of their backsplash choices work because they are also busy. Best to have a plan going in so you can prioritize which is more important to you I don’t think you have a big enough backsplash area to really show off those beautiful slabs. So I’d go with A for your countertop and choose a backsplash that works with it....See MoreNeed help with backsplash for Super White Quartzite countertops please
