Need Help with Exterior!

The exterior needs a refresh! I'm replacing the front door with one of the double doors (in last two photos), and windows with dark frame.

My questions are:

1) what would you do with the areas above the door and windows?

2) what door looks best (or any other suggestions are appreciated).

I have no vision!! Thank you all!!

I would want your white or cream (hard to tell) to blend better, so I'd pick a color from the brick, like maybe a taupe. I think darker would look better.

thanks for the replies! egbar - I was thinking a deep navy color for the shutters and door. I agree the above color is too cool. The gray shutters are a good idea also with a lighter stucco color. i'm going for a more modern look with stainless hardware and lanterns. so maybe yellow is out of the question. nosoccermom - the grout color is gray. a brown gray is a good idea. its just so hard to find the right one! so confused!

With that color of brick, any light shade of white or cream, along with darker shades like black, hunter green, or several shades of gray would look great with that brick color. What color is your roof? That's the other color you need to think about when choosing paint colors for your house. You do not want your trim clashing with it. If your budget is limited to maybe paint and column wraps I would do the columns, but probably not with a Craftsman style which doesn't really work with the house. A beefier square column, painted the trim color would work. I would look at painting the shutters a color other than brown. Right now the entire house is monotone. A bright color on the front door to make it a focal point (I like the teal chair color for the front door).

I like Beverly’s upper right and lower left. The lighter door looks great!

I would do a 42" wide single door with sidelites and not a double door. They are inherent leakers and you do not have enough protection from the overhang.

Thank you all! I was leaning towards a dark walnut door and either painting the above section with a dark walnut paint/stain or doing custom woodwork to tie it all together. I do think the colors need to be the same as the door to give it height. Thoughts?
