babyboomer1001: 100% silicone is perfect caulk between a sink flange and the bottom of stone. Polyseamseal and other Latex caulks are not; they do not have the adhesive stickiness or flexibility of silicone. It's best if you can pull your sink, clean the sink flange and stone bottom, recaulk with silicone and reinstall the sink. If this isn't reasonably possible, use a stiff plastic shim or plastic laminate to gouge the caulk out, clean the gap with acetone, and recaulk with silicone. Ignoring a leaking sink flange can have catastrophic consequences if your top has been "rodded" or reinforced with steel. If the fabricator used the wrong rod and/or the wrong bedding the rod can rust and blow up your top. I've fixed about 8 of these so far and it runs around $1,000.00-$1,600.00.

Not advised to create a ledge. You physically can, but now you depend on silicon to keep things water tight. If you keep a zero reveal or an overhang, then water is less likely to accumulate on the sink flange (Which is used to create the ledge). The silicone then can stay intact longer, and not be needed as the primary water guard. Often the biggest problem we see with ledge sinks is with the installation. Some issues we have been told is with accessories not fitting. However, this is easily avoidable with two best practices: 1. The fabricator should always follow the template 2. Once the hole is cut for the sink, dry fit the accessories to ensure smooth sailing from the client. If you like ledge sinks then check this new release: Kraus Kore

This is a question for Joseph but I wiil say my piece for sure. IMO workstation sinks are not ideal the parts are too small and always affect how the rest of the sink functions , the grid on the bottom is just one more thing to clean and they get gross quickly . Get a nice large stainless undermount and but a cutting board a proper size and a stariner you store in a drawer or cabinet save a ton of monet and have much better function. BTW there is a reason enammelled cast iron went out of favor the first time you drop a heavy pot in it will be the first time you have an ugly chip, IMO a good quality stinless one bowl sink will last forever .

A 24" sink undermounts into a 24" cabinet if it's strapped, not clipped or blocked in place, no matter what the sink manufacturer says. Only the top inch of cabinet sides need relief.
