You have two main points here: Radiant Heating & Sound Proofing.Your best option here is Floor Muffler underlayment. This is certified over radiant heating and is sound proof. You may then use any floating or laminate floor you desire. Here are some suggestions: 1) Mirage Loc is a floating floor that has a real wood wear layer and is very easy to install. It has Maple in natural and five other colors. This product has an HDF core and will be perfect for radiant heating. If you need a floor that is certified over radiant heating, your best option will be BR-111 Triangulo. This is not a click floor but can be floated by gluing the planks together. Hope that helps. @Jan Moyer I love hardwood for living room and dining room plus bedrooms. I worry about hardwood in a kitchen because my last two refrigerators have leaked water and it sat on the floor before I realized it was there. They wern't the really expensive ones but they weren't terribly cheap either. And I had an older home, built in 1923, that had oak all through, and the floors in some areas were beyond repair: kitchen, bathroom (no shower), around the front door. It was a model home when built and wasn't built cheaply. I owned it after it had 60 years of living. So if I have wood floors, should I just be ready to replace them in wet rooms? If the floor in the wet room has to be replaced, will the new floor blend with the old, or should I be ready to replace all the connecting floors? I agree with your previous statements that fewer flooring changes is preferred. It's just hard to go with wood in my kitchen, baths and entries. Thoughts?

Whats more important? A dining room as in plan 2 or a pantry as in plan 1? I would want a dining area, but it is you we are concerned with.

I read the comments here and viewed some of the links, well, I do agree that you can do the flooring without raising the cabinets. The real negative here is that if you raise the floor too much, it makes it impossible to get appliances out for repair or replacement. You might have the space under the cabinet, or maybe get a dishwasher that is slightly shorter. Either way if you’re doing a floating floor like it seems you are it should be OK. Another consideration, as if you don’t have enough decisions. Lol is to use a vinyl floor with a wood finish. Pretty much the same thickness as the linoleum you have currently but it should solve all of your problems. They sell it at the home stores and I’m sure the same place/ price as you are looking at the other wood floor. They are really nice looking, I actually like it better than the hardwood. It seems to be a lot more durable in my opinion :-)
