I've been using my first and middle names for something like 14 years. I found it's easiest to just be me and helps people remember who I am better. Maybe I'm getting old but I have a hard time keeping the association between user name and real name straight. I do dog rescue and people need to be able to remember who I am. As for the comment about not hiding that is very true. They just did a study recently and found that if people felt they could hide behind a username they were more outspoken if not downright cruel than if they used their own name. It doesn't happen here, but I see it in far too many other forums. This forum is like a garden -- a safe haven where names show interests and loves and are not cloaks of anonymity. Hey Scoot. Nice to see you're back. I think I still have pix of your lawn after you did the reno. Deep and infrequent is the mantra for watering. What that means for you versus what it means for me or someone in Louisiana can all be different things. If your grass gets plenty of water and blades fold up in 3 days, then you need to water. In your case you have sandy soil and hot sun working against you.

Hi, Thanks for the responses. I do recall going through something that may have been an account set-up process. (I was rushing and didn't pay attention. It could also have been just a 'naming of the computer' step.) I'll check at my earliest convenience. It was, indeed, Windows 7, so perhaps what I did was create a user account after all as bpgreen suggested. RE: genes' concern about CCleaner. No problem. I'm the only one who does any 'maintenance' on her computer, and I use it at default settings for the most part. (And I never touch registry changes.) :-)

DO NOT USE STPP IN THE RINSE! The purpose of rinsing is to remove chemicals and detergent from your clothes, not put them back in. If you want to soften the water in your final rinse, use citric acid instead. Citric acid is a non-precipitating water softener and also aids in smoothing textile fabrics. It's a win-win. You can find citric acid at the Chemistry Store or in the dishwashing section of your local grocery store under the name LemiShine. Middle eastern grocery stores may also stock citric acid under the name "lemon salt". If you have 17 grains hardness, you should not be using less than 1 TBS of Charlie's Soap. In fact, I wrote to Charlie's Soap and they told me that with a 4.0 cuft machine in soft water conditions I should be using 1.5-2 TBS. From what you described, I think you might as well wash in plain water. Just because you see some small amount of suds and turbid water is not an indicator that you are using enough detergent. Determining how much STPP to use based on your specific water hardness and amount of water will require some knowledge of chemistry. You need to know how much calcium can be neutralized by a given quantity of STPP, then apply that to the volume of water and your specific hardness conditions. Unfortunately such a calculation is beyond my pay grade at this time. My initial suggestion would be to use 1 TBS of Charlie's with 1 TBS of STPP and see how it goes.
